Is There An RCIA for Children?

Yes, indeed. There is a process for children (3rd grade or older) who

have never been bapzed, or who were bapzed into another Chris-

an denominaon, and who want to join the Catholic Church. Chil-

dren who parcipate in this process will receive the Sacraments of

Bapsm, Confirmaon and Eucharist at the Easter Vigil in 2018. If

you are interested, please contact Mary Jane Standley (5430270) or

Sr. Pat (7404044) for informaon on the process. Please note that

Children who are in the RCIA Process are also required to take part in

the Chrisan Formaon Program at their age level.

Vigil Candles Lighng a candle is a longstanding tradion in our Church. Each

week the candles suspended above our bapsmal font are lit to

honor the prayer requests of our parishioners. The prayer inten-

ons are read at each of our weekend liturgies, and the candle

remains lit all week as a reminder of the prayer of the communi-

ty. If you would like to have a candle lit, you can simply fill out

one of the envelopes on the table at the entrance to the church

and return it to the parish office, or place it in the collecon bas-

ket on the weekend.

LITURGY AND MUSIC

Altar Flowers

Would you like to memorialize a loved one, remember a special

occasion like an anniversary or birthday? A beauful way to do

so would be by sponsoring a floral arrangement for the church!

A $75 donaon is asked to provide flowers for the main church

for the weekend liturgies. Your special intenon will be an-

nounced before Mass, as our vigil candle intenons are read.

The flowers are a very special and visual way to keep your pray-

ers before the community. If you would like to provide a memo-

rial donaon, please call the Parish Office, 7404044.

You may also sponsor floral arrangements for our Daily Mass

Chapel. A $35 donaon is asked for flowers for the Chapel.

Wine Donations Thanks to all who have donated wine for Mass. It is most appre-

ciated and represents a tremendous savings to the parish budget!

Thank you for your though5ulness and good stewardship! If you

would like to donate wine, we use white zinfandel or blush Chab-

lis. You can drop your donaon off in the Parish Office any me

or at Church on the weekend.

Are You Interested in Becoming A Catholic?

If you have never been bapzed, if you were bapzed in another

Chrisan denominaon and would like to become Catholic, or if you

were bapzed Catholic, but never received the Sacraments of Eucha-

rist or Confirmaon, you are welcome to join our RCIA Inquiry Pro-

cess. For more informaon, call Sr. Pat at 7404044, ext. 13, or go to

our parish web page, and click on “Interest in Becoming Catholic?”

Are You Interested in Being an RCIA Sponsor?

Parishioners are invited to serve as “sponsors” for those seeking to

join the Church. If you are interested in being a sponsor, please call

the RCIA Sponsor Coordinator, Terry Tuskey (3382225). For more

informaon on becoming a sponsor, you can visit our parish website,

and click on “Interested in Becoming Catholic?” The only require-

ments for becoming a sponsor is that you are a praccing Catholic

who has received the Sacrament of Confirmaon.

Adult Sacramental Preparation

If you are an adult who was bapzed Catholic and has been a<end-

ing Mass, but never received the Sacraments of Reconciliaon, Com-

munion or Confirmaon, please give Sr. Pat a call at the Parish

Office, or email her at [email protected].

Adult Preparaon Sessions for those interested in receiving these

three Sacraments, will be offered started in June. The day and me

of these meengs will be determined by the group at the first

meeng on Sunday, June 10, at 12:30pm in the St. Anne Room.

Tomorrow’s Priests, Deacons and Religious are in Today’s Parish Families

religious life.

We pray especially for those young men recently ordained as

transional deacons in preparaon for priesthood:

Tochi, Iwuji, Chris Masla, Dan Molochko, Kyle O’Connor and

Cassidy Snson.

And for John Baab, James O’Reilly and Nick Redmond who will

have your doctor check your skin during any regular health exam.

Human Concerns Envelopes

Your continued use of the envelope marked “Human Concerns” in your envelope packet each month supports all of our outreach ministries locally. Your generosity enables us to serve people here in our neigh-borhood, and the Richmond Diocese with food, rental assistance, or utility bills, and many other needs that arise where help is needed. NOTE: We are now assisting people with dental needs for which there is limited help. We are indeed blessed to have this resource to use in the service of all God’s people. Many thanks to all of you who support this ministry by using the Human Concerns envelope!

CHILDREN’S

FAITH FORMATION

2018 Diocesan Work CampAt the end of June, our parish will send 36 older teens and 15 adults to the Diocesan Work Camp in Wise County, VA. Our teens will join other teens from parishes from across our Diocese to serve the Lord and grow closer to Christ by visiting close to 30 different homes to engage in home improvement projects. Please help support this mission by:

• Praying for our group’s safe travel and work, and for the residents we will reach out to and serve.

• By donating a Wal-Mart gift card (of any denomination) to our Par-ish Office (marked 2018 Work Camp ATTN: Chris Jenkins). This is an especially helpful way to help the camp with needed supplies, last-minute tools, and unexpected incidents.

• If you own lots of tools, loaning us tools is always very helpful. Our parish will receive a tool list around May 31, and we will be seeking loaned tools. If you are a handy do-it-yourselfer with an impres-s i v e t oo l s hed , ema i l Ch r i s Jenk in s c j e n [email protected].

Counselors are leaders who help as good Christian role models for campers. They are asked to welcome the youth, lead small groups, participate in activities, and potentially give a short talk sometimes. Must be a rising 11th or 12th Grade or College Student, plus attend entire week camp, attend afternoon prep meeting on July 8, attend 30-minute pre-post-day meetings the days of camp, and if over 18 years old, complete Diocesan Safe Environment Policies.
