The HSIE Green Wall has been refreshed for 2019. It is certainly pleasing to the eye and the living wall cre-
ates a wonderful atmosphere- much better than the bare brick wall.
Supporting the upcoming Hawkesbury Show our support unit students have been preparing their entries. Our
wonderful MC artists have been at work, planning and painting their chicken in preparation for the Hawkesbury
Show Painted Chicken competition.
The Year 12 excursion to WSU Parramatta Campus turned out to be much longer than we thought! The trip to the campus took 2 hours to get there. The trip home took 3 hours because the bus broke down on the M7! Our students cheerfully said “This will make a good item for our Yearbook !” We stopped traffic and the breakdown was reported on the news. After a long wait we boarded a new bus that brought us back. At WSU the students
had a great time and learned about options for study for next year.
Just another reminder, could all parents/caregivers please make sure their children wear leather school shoes, either black or white, each day to school. Regards Jennifer Hawken

Deputy Principal Report This week we are blitzing the wearing of leather footwear. It is a health and safety requirement set out by the Department of Education through its WHS Policy. The DEC is committed to pro-vide a safe learning environment for all students. Leather shoes will protect your child’s feet from accidents such as falling objects and chemical spillages. If a student presents to their Science, Food Technology, Textiles or Industrial Arts class without the correct leather enclosed shoes, the student will be provided with alternate subject related course work to complete until they are wear-ing appropriate footwear. We ask students to wear either black or white leather upper shoes.
A copy of the Footwear Guidelines was emailed home to parents. We ask parents to chat to their child about their school day. Please ask your child what they were taught in each lesson and the homework they need to complete before their next class. Assessment tasks are now being handed out for subjects. Please check the school website for assessment schedules. We ask parents to keep track of what is due, to assist their child in submitting tasks on time.
We encourage all students to attend the Maths Tutoring sessions on a Monday afternoon (3:15-4:15pm), the Tuesday Homework Club (3:15-5:00pm) and the Academic Support sessions on a Thursday (2:37-3:15pm).
