Since last Meeting:

• Have not met as a group since last status update• Emailed Vanderlei last night asking for resources on coil design and the IDL orbit simulation software• Have received email back from Brian Bingham, suggested using PID control

This Afternoon:

• Modeling: Debug new problem in model

• Coil Optimization: Waiting for Vanderlei reply, plan to finish ASAP

• Delineate new tasks this week:-Research control methods-Develop PIC software-Mechanical Design in Solidworks-Circuit Design-Overall integration of Design-Website updates

This Morning with Jeff:

• CubeSat resources on Stanford site• Hysteresis rods• Talk to Rebecca about coil geometry• Other satellite stories and fun

Model:

• Resolved issue with model – Turns out it was an animation issue, not a computational issue• Withstood verification• Even went through Gimble Lock, only caused a momentary singularity

Coil:

• Decided on coil design• Begun Solidworks of first prototype CubeSat

New Tasks

• Task Delineation:-Research control methods: Lorraine, Jacob-Develop PIC software: Dan, Lorraine-Mechanical Design: Christina-Circuit Design: Dan, Lorraine-Overall integration of Design All-Website updates Christina

Control Algorithm:

• Working on PID algorithm• Have outline of algorithm, and Simulink code that doesn’t work yet

Design Updates:

• Mech Design: Christina Solidworks-ing since yesterday• Electrical Design: Acquired equipment-PIC and connector kit

Other Updates:

• Website up to date• Magnetometer

Control Algorithm:

• Working PID algorithm for aligning with sun: demonstration…• Correctly aligns to the sun’s axis; however, does not stabilize roll• Further verifies model

Other Updates:

• PIC stuff• Mechanical design in Solidworks• Fix roll problem in control algorithm

Control Algorithm:

• Trying to stabilize roll• Can measure roll axis via magnetometer, but trying to eliminate the roll is problematic

Other Updates:• Plan to order materials today• Going though POE labs to learn PIC stuff

Deliverables:

• Prototype Demonstration•Executes all 4 control tasks•Not test with time/power requirements

• Control Software and manual• Paper
