Week 5 Literacy Monday – After sharing the story ‘In My Heart: A Book of Feelings’ draw a heart and decorate however you like. Support with pen grip if needed. Tuesday – share a rhyming story and encourage children to complete the rhyming word. Recap rhyming words ate the end of the story. Pause and address new vocabulary, repeat new words and encourage discussion. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e16aXiLWONk Thursday – Recap the story ‘Shark in the Park on a Windy Day’. Remind the children about the author, the title and the illustrator. Talk about the elements of the story, the characters, where the story took place and what happened at the end. Encourage children to draw their favourite part from the story. Provide paper and pens. Model writing the word of what they draw, ie, shark, dog, pram etc. Have letters on the big screen or iPad for children to refer to as they write. Encourage correct grip. Friday – Today let us write a shopping list. Ask your adults what they need from the shops. When your adult writes their list, you can write yours. See if you can hear the sound at the beginning of the word, for example, b..b..banana, m..m..milk, and ten write it down. Adults to support with letter formation and pen grip.
