Purpose: To predict whether we can use a system to pop a balloon every time we do the same thing.

Hypothesis: If a stack of three books is dropped on a sealed ziploc bag (Mrs. Gall doesnt have balloons today :( ) from a height of two feet, the bag will pop open.

Hypothesis: If a stack of three books is dropped on a sealed ziploc bag (Mrs. Gall doesnt have balloons today :( ) from a height of two feet, the bag will pop open.

Materials:

3 books

1 sealed ziploc bag

Procedure:

1. Blow a ziploc bag full of air, then seal it closed.

1. Blow a ziploc bag full of air, then seal it closed.

2. Place the sealed bag on a flat surface.

3. Measure two feet in the air above the bag.

4. Hold three books in a stack above the bag.

5. Drop the books.

7. If the bag doesn’t pop, change the height or number of books, record your changes, and try again.

KEEP EXPERIMENTING UNTIL YOU FIND A HEIGHT AND NUMBER OF BOOKS THAT POPS THE BAG AT LEAST 3 TIMES, AND THAT NEVER FAILS TO POP THE BAG.
