The Center for Middle Eastern Studies and the Office of Study Abroad and Student Exchange

will be holding an information session for the Arizona in Jordan summer study abroad pro-gram. Join us at this session to learn how you can participate in this 8-week program in Irbid, Jordan. Course offerings include Modern Standard Arabic, Jordanian Arabic, Ethnogra-phy of the Middle East and Jordan (NES375), and Armed Conflict and Conflict Management (POL462).

AZ Model United Nations (AZMUN) Club, is actively recruiting Spanish speaking students to be members of AZMUN club (participation for credit is also available). This is a good chance to learn about international diplomacy,

practice leadership, and at the same time contribute to a student-run nonprofit!

We are an award winning organization, and we hope to expand the bilingual aspect of our 51st annual Model United Nations conference for

high school students from the US and Mexico.

Youth Design Team Help the library plan media centers for youth.

As part of a national effort to make more interactive, dynamic places for youth to connect with friends and mentors and develop digital media skills, Pima County Public Library needs a group

of 15 youth to create a plan. You will be community organizers, leaders and project planners. You will work with media professionals, and tell your own stories with video, photos and more. This opportunity pays $100/month and is open to 14-21 year olds. You must be available

to meet at the Joel D. Valdez Main Library every Tuesday afternoon, 4-6pm.

Community Outreach and Education Division Internship

with the Attorney General’s Office Attention Spring 2013 Interns

Students will have an opportunity to intern at the Attorney General's Tucson office. This opportunity will provide the interns with knowledge of Arizona's statewide Crime

Prevention and Education initiatives. BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

Internship Opportunity for Spring 2013:

Immigrant Mothers with U.S. Citizen Children Project

The Southwest Institute for Research on Women (SIROW) is seeking two enthusiastic UA interns to assist on a research project about the needs of immigrant mothers with citizen children living in Tucson. The research team has completed interviews with the mothers—we need you to help with transcription of

the interviews, translation from Spanish to English, coding of data, and identification of key themes and is-sues.

Skills that you need: bilingual and biliterate in Spanish/English; attention to detail; eagerness to learn.

Interns will work for 10 hours a week, receive 3 units of credit, gain knowledge and experience in qualitative research methods, and learn about current issues involving immigrant mothers and their children.

To apply: submit a letter up to one page in length that details your qualifications, interest in the project, and major area of study, and a copy of your resume.

Internship Opportunity:

Pima County Justice Court

Description: At the onset, the internship will consist of courtroom observations of the justice court judges and ascertain whether they assign community service hours. Furthermore, the intern will observe the justice court specialty courts, including dv court, mental health court, homeless court, vet court, pet court and me-diation court and write summaries of the proceedings for distribution to the other judges.

In addition, the intern will contact pima county non-profit agencies, organizations, charitable groups, vol-unteer services groups and ascertain if the agency accepts court assigned community service volunteers. The community service hours are perform in lieu of fine payments or other penalties. The information will there-inafter be uploaded onto a court-based website for access for volunteers, organizations and other entities

A qualified intern must have telephone communication skills as well as computer program skills.

Minimum hours per week: 8 (either two four hour days or one eight hour day)

The intern will keep track of which judges assign community service hours and the average assignments per judge. Furthermore, the summary observations of the intern will be distributed to the other judges to help the judges be better aware of the different court programs.

Scholarship Universe is a scholarship management system developed at the University of Arizona exclusively for

University of Arizona students. The system uses each student's unique Profile to continually match them with scholarships year

round that they are eligible to apply for. Scholarship Universe also provides resources and other scholarship websites that students can utilize and rank.

Attention All Arizona Residents:

All Arizona residents are highly encouraged to complete the online Arizona Community Foundation schol-

arship application to be considered for up to 70 scholarships! Apply as soon as possible. The first scholar-

ship deadline is fast approaching (1/19/13).

TIP: The Community Foundation’s number one tip for Scholarship Universe users - Complete

the entire application by answering each question as thoroughly and

honestly as possible. Choosing not to answer just one question, like ethnicity, will exclude stu-

dents from consideration. Reviewers read all answers so be sure to put in your best effort.
