CONSTRUCTING ENVIRONMENTS SEMESTER 2 2013WEEK 10 JOURNAL DETAILNG VOLUME (PART TWO)NAME: ZEYU LI (VICKY)STUDENT NUMBER: 634091PHOTOS & ANNOTATE DRAWINGS & WRITTEN DESCRIPTION AND ANALYSISI(MATERIALITY, FUNCTION, ARCHITECTURAL AND STRUCTURAL ELEMENTS)
·LVL --- Laminate Veneer Lamberdifferent veneers glue together in the same directionCharacteristics: 1.Very common used in construction site today
2.Cheap3.Very resistant, can take long distance and used in big span4.Quite light so it’s very easy to handle
·reinforcing steel bars
Form Ply wood ---used in formwook
CONSTRUCTING ENVIRONMENTS SEMESTER 2 2013WEEK 10 JOURNAL DETAILNG VOLUME (PART TWO)NAME: ZEYU LI (VICKY)STUDENT NUMBER: 634091·Masonry wall (bricks) --- Construction type·Retaining wall --- Resisting the lateral force or pressure from the soil.
--- Gravity retaining wall: depends on their materials, uses concreteblock here, uses their mass to resist, so it’s gravity retaining wallor cantilevered concrete retaining wall
·water drainage --- to keep water away: when it rains, water come to site and it cankeep stormwater away to low level
--- Hole: water can drip from wall to the hole and into the pipe.--- Edge drainge always as high as footing to keep water seek intothe gaps between the drainge and the footing.
·Bracing --- a indispensable member in timber structure
Categories:welded Just:bracing Fix
money saving can it and material light Very :bracing Rod
In all structures, it can strongly resists the lateral forces, such as windforce and earthquake → very stable member
* In here, it uses rod bracing a lot
Retaining wallhole
CONSTRUCTING ENVIRONMENTS SEMESTER 2 2013WEEK 10 JOURNAL DETAILNG VOLUME (PART TWO)NAME: ZEYU LI (VICKY)STUDENT NUMBER: 634091·Formwork --- a box which used to shape the concrete
*With reinforcing bar, it is a reinforced concrete
·Props --- a temporary support the formwork until concerte is cured, prevent failing--- In concrete, it needs 28 days to cure, but commonly props can remove
after 2 weeks when concrete pour into the formwork
