WEEK 1 TERM 2, Thursday, 30 April 2020 Phased Return to School Thank you for your continued support throughout these very challenging and uncertain times. There will continue to be changes throughout Term 2 and the managed return to school for our students. Our school will continue to keep you advised of what is happening in NSW Public Schools and more specifically, information about Bingara Central School's arrangements from week 3. On Monday, our staff had the opportunity to view the latest livestream from the NSW Department of Education which updated all NSW DoE employees on the current overall plan for NSW Public Schools in Term 2. The message reiterated was that all NSW Public Schools will be implementing a managed return to school with a gradual increase of students through a phased process. As per this message and the NSW DoE 'A Managed Return to School - Guidelines for Families' our executive staff have been working tirelessly to manage the transition of our students to return to school in accordance with COVID - 19 safety guidelines. From Wednesday 29 April until Friday 8 May 2020 we will be working under Phase 0 guidelines as outlined in the table below. ALL students attending school MUST bring their remote learning programs and loaned laptops with them to school as students will be supervised by staff to complete their learning tasks and will not have their normal subject teacher. Students attending school will be completing the same work as their class peers working from home. There have been a large number of preventative measures implemented last term and will continue to be implemented. These include: • social distancing • reduced visitors on the school site • cancellation or postponement of school events • additional hygiene signage around the school • hand washing lessons • hand sanitiser in every operational classroom • extra cleaning throughout the day. Term 2 - Week 3: Phase 1 Starting Week 3 of this term (Monday 11 May), we will begin implementing Phase 1 of the managed return to school guidelines for our families. Students in Phase 1 may attend school 1 day per week. Bingara Central School has been organised according to their year/stage classes. Stage 6 HSC and Kindergarten as part of our timetable for Bingara Central School have been prioritised to attend additional days. Students from essential workers or vulnerable families may continue to attend school if required and they will continue to be fully supervised. Please see the attachment for your child’s designated days.

Learning from home
Practical resources and guides to support students are available at the department’s Learning from home hub.
Please see the attached fact sheet over the page for further information.
We have been incredibly appreciative of
the support and understanding that we
have received from parents during this
time in education. We know how
challenging it has been for our students
and their families. The education, health
and wellbeing of our staff, students and
families will always be at the forefront of
all the decisions that are made during this
time. Please see the suggested curriculum
requirements for learning from home and
school to assist in maintaining a balanced
approach to learning.
Further updates will be provided on our
school Facebook page, newsletter or via
email to include any changes as necessary
regarding the COVID-19 situation. Please
contact the school directly by telephone
should you have any inquiries relating to
these phases for the return of your child/

At home…
With a computer or iPad and a good internet connection, Maths Pathways lends itself to home learning very well.
However, it is important that students find themselves a quiet location away from the TV and other distractions so they can
make the best use of their time.
Just like in the classroom, have your work book, red pen and ruler handy to set up your page just as you would at school. Rule a
red line up the middle of your page.
Remember to write the date and the title of your module also using a red pen.
Students are encouraged to check their answers as they progress through the module. If they are getting answers wrong (or
needing to sneak a peek at the answer before working it out for themselves, more than a couple of times) then they better hit
the help button and choose the option to watch the short accompanying video. If they are still having difficulty, without any
classmates, this might be a good time to email / send a message via Google classroom to your teacher.
Your teacher may ask you to complete a Diagnostic Test so that you can access more modules. They will email you your access
code. So keep an eye on your emails.
For Diagnostics Tests, it is critical that no help is
given from siblings and parents because this is
when Maths Pathways works out exactly what
you are ready to learn. If you get help answering
these questions your work will be too difficult for
you in the future. DO have a notebook or scrap
paper handy to help you to answer the questions
as accurately as you can. Careless answers will
result in you having to complete modules that
you may already understand and can do.
So give yourself a good chance to make the most
of your time completing your Maths Pathways
modules and set up in a quiet space, check often
that your work is correct and don’t ask for any
help when you are completing your Diagnostic
Tests as the consequence will be ‘work that is too
hard for you at this time’!

Secondary Students – Morning roll Call/Wellbeing
Secondary students need to look out for an email from your Roll Call teacher(s). This will be an invitation and link to join a new
Google Classroom for your Stage Group morning roll Call and Wellbeing group.
From Monday of Week 2, your school day will commence with either a Zoom meeting or a shout out from your Roll Call
teacher. It is important that you respond to their requests to either say good morning or participate in the Zoom Meeting for
important information or sharing, whatever is on offer, as this is how we will know to mark you as present for the day.
If we don’t get a good morning or participation in you morning wellbeing session, you will get marked absent until your
teacher gets some indication that you have engaged with your class work for the day.
If you remain marked absent, as none of your teachers have been able to see evidence of your engagement in class work, you
will receive an unexplained absence letter which will be recorded in your attendance record.
So please make sure you are up, showered/dressed, had breakfast and ready for your school day by 8:40am and more
importantly, ready to give a BIG, CHEERY GOOD MORNING greeting to your Year Adviser(s) and brighten their day!

What is the best thing about BCS and/or Bingara? It is small, lots of people see this as a negative but it is such a huge positive. It enhances your learning experience. I became very close with a few of the teachers at BCS throughout my high school journey and I am still friends with them now! People that I would not have been where I am today without their constant support and helping hands. Names: Robyn Gasson, Scot Crispin and Nicki Galvin
What is your favourite BCS memory and/or tradition?Favourite BCS tradition weirdly enough, I hated it at the time but now reflecting it was the marching for school sports carnivals and the picking of the oranges. I loved how the community and school came together to remember our fallen soldiers.
Where are you now? Occupation?I am currently living in Geurie. I work as a full time registered nurse (RN) at Wellington District Hospital.
What are some of your achievements? Well in life I got married in November last year to the love of my life. I completed my Bachelor of Nursing Studies in 2 years (fastracked) whilst working as an aged carer in Armidale. I am being transitioned into the Emergency department where I am working to progress to be nurse in charge when on shift. I am currently studying my graduate diploma of clinical practice to become a paramedic, this course is delivered full time over the period of a year, so hopefully I will be a qualified paramedic early next year!
What is an interesting fact about you? Hmm there isn’t any really that I can think about. I have traveled to Fiji for my honeymoon and it was beautiful.
Do you have any words of wisdom for our students?Put a lot of effort into your studies, listen to the staff at BCS and you will receive amazing benefits! Whilst I was at Bingara I completed a school based trainee-ship at Bingara MPS. This was the foundation for where I am today. Do not limit the possibilities just because you come from a small rural area!!!!!
Is there anything else you would like to share with us?I had a hard childhood growing up, things were tough. I was taken in by my amazing grandparents, well saved by them really. My grandparents made me the person I am today and the respect and love I have for them is unbelievable. I would not have been able to achieve all the things I have thus far without their constant support, love and confidence in me.
Don’t forget to return your completed school work so
your teacher can mark what you have been working on.
