We have always been artists, but we have not always been together. Roots Creative is our outlet and our family. Our members are hand-selected not only for their expert skills, but also for their passion for people.
Before, we were off doing our own thing and running our own businesses. But... that was lonely, so we joined forces. Rather than compete with each other, we decided to work side-by-side.
Now we are a team. There is love, and beer, and coffee, and weddings, and art, and laughter. Life is good.

TIPS FOR FAMILY FORMALS
KEEPING WEDDING DAY PORTRAITS FRESH
1. Delegate
Since you will be in the photos, you’ll want to choose someone who knows both sides of your family well enough to gather them together. Your photographer wont know if Uncle Brian is missing, so be sure to delegate that responsibility to someone who will.
2. Tell your family to show up
This seems obvious, but in the craziness of wedding planning, a lot of people forget to tell their family when and where formals will be. Many couples include a special insert including details in the invitations of individuals who will be in photos. The rehearsal dinner is the perfect time to remind them of this information.
3. Keep it short
There are tons of arrangements for family photos, but if you want any time to have photos of the two of you or want to get to your reception before guests start leaving, keep it simple. 5 shots. Bride and Groom together with each immediate family, each extended family, and one full group picture. Done and done.

It always begins with a slightly embarrassed, quietly curious, question. Do you ever take those kinds of pictures? She avoids eye contact and wrings her hands.
I look at her and giggle. Never at her, but because she has no idea what fun we are going to have.
Most of the women who approach me have this idea that boudoir photography is super serious and scary. I totally get it. Trusting someone else to take intimate photos of you is a huge ask… much less a stranger! So, I wanted to take some time this year and expel the fear.
First of all, I don’t even call these shoots “boudoir.” That word is French and intimidating. I call them “Fox Sessions,” because let’s be honest, ladies are foxy, and it is my ultimate goal to help them feel that way.
During the session, we listen to Spice Girls and dance a lot. I will even expose my new-mommy-strech-marked body and jiggle it with you if it makes you more comfortable. Our bodies are gorgeous. They might not look like the cover of a magazine, but our lovers like to ogle them nonetheless.
I never thought that I would love these sessions so much, but they are FUN, and most of all, the images are stunning. Watching a woman realize that she is beautiful makes my heart sing.
There is natural light, all of the important things stay covered, and I focus on her eyes. Because, truly, the eyes are the sexiest part of any woman.
Maybe the client gives the pictures to their fiancé as a wedding gift. Perhaps they give them to their spouse as an anniversary gift. Sometimes, even if they are going to be apart for a long time.
But the value to me is for her. For her to laugh with me and smile- knowing that she is foxy.

Roots Creative did an incredible job of capturing Travis and I’s wedding! There are so many great
shots of the ceremony that I know Ben (our awesome photographer) had to have been running all
over the place, but we never even noticed. He was on top of everything that day from scouting the
venue to find a cool old shed to take pictures inside of to keeping us ahead of schedule. We are so
thankful to have had Roots Creative travel to Indy to be our wedding photographer. We know that
we enjoy looking back at our wedding pictures for the rest of our lives! -Megan Popp

We love Kyle’s dreadlocks and his ability to keep the dance floor full. Most of all, we love his professionalism. He knows that the day is not about him, so he takes the time to get to know each couple he works with. He wont make jokes at their expense. He wont steal the show. He is the guy behind the scenes secretly holding the reception together.
“My goal is to make the day as perfect as possible for the bride and groom. I enjoy picking the perfect music for the crowd so that everyone can have the best time possible.”

There is something truly profound about O’ Sister, Brother. With original lyrics that inspire both tears and laughter and unique covers, they lend the perfect soundtrack to a wedding day. The soulful trio describes themselves as folky and grassroots.
Based in Huntington, IN, members include Tyler Gault (accordian and vocals), Kyle Jackson (guitar and vocals), and Bennett Spicklemier (chello). Their sound is deep with harmonies. On a
side note, they are super fun.
“Working with the band was a dream. They were organized and let us come to band practice to hear them play. Tyler & Kyle even sent us audio of the songs we requested so we could hear them before the wedding. The day of, they sounded amazing! Hiring O’ Sister, Brother was one of the best choices we made for our wedding.” -Sara and Tyler Mayne

It’s not about the shoes, or the cake, or the
centerpieces. A wedding is about two people
amongst 7 billion who have chosen to bind
themselves singularly to one another. A Roots
Wedding revolves around those two people.
For one day, they are the center of our world,
and it is perfect.
