Web-based Process Operations Simulators (webPOS) are packaged modeling applications tuned and validated for refining or petrochemical units. The applications are used by process and planning engineers to meet specific operational needs. The webPOS modeling applications allow the user to: Optimize operating conditions to obtain required product yields and qualities while ensuring safe and economical operation. Evaluate new feedstocks or new product quality impacts on existing processes. Identify bottlenecks. Study interactions of different units: for example, the impact of cutpoint changes in a naphtha splitter on a reforming unit’s operation. Track key process parameters such as catalyst deactivation, yields. BENEFITS A cost-effective way to optimize unit(s) operations Operational consistency and improvement. Web-based Process Operations Simulators (webPOS) are packaged modeling applications tuned and validated for refining or petrochemical units. The applications are used by process and planning engineers to meet specific operational needs. The webPOS modeling applications allow the user to: • Optimize operating conditions to obtain required product yields and qualities while ensuring safe and economical operation. • Evaluate new feedstocks or new product quality impacts on existing processes. • Identify bottlenecks. • Study interactions of different units: for example, the impact of cutpoint changes in a naphtha splitter on a reforming unit’s operation. • Track key process parameters such as catalyst deactivation, yields.

BENEFITS

• A cost-effective way to optimize unit(s) operations

• Operational consistency and improvement. • Linear Programming planning model updates

POS FEATURES AND TECHNOLOGY

Axens’ approach is to help refinery engineers achieve operational excellence and maximize return on assets while optimizing their efforts. An easy-to-use interface coupled with Axens’ process technology, catalyst and refinery expertise will help refiners maximize their benefits from webPOS investment. Key features include: • Combination of reactor models with detailed plant-wide process simulation (1) • Accurate reactor kinetic models based on Axens' extensive process knowledge and experience in reactor design and operation. • Integration in one application of several linked units like a complete Aromatics Complex. • Accessible through the Internet using a simple browser. Note 1: the plant-wide steady state simulation is the same as the one used for the unit design built with PRO/II (software licensed by IPS)
