    1 OVERVIEW

    This document is describing about the steps for Oracle Webcenter Content deployment component and configuration from

    development server to production server. This document is contains steps to add Configuration for Sever Watches and

    Notification. So when server come into Unknown or Down state, Weblogic will send email notification to admin.

    2 DEPLOYMENT STEP

    We will set up alerts on the state of the Weblogic Managed Server, so the admin will get a notification when a server is not in

    the RUNNING state.

    2.1 SET UP THE MAIL SESSION OBJECT

    1. Login to Weblogic Console http://localhost:7101/console

    2. Expand Services -> Mail Sessions and click New to create a new Java Mail Session object

    3. Provide Name, JNDI Name and JavaMail Properties as follow:

    Name MyMailSession

    JNDI Name MyMailSession (Its best to keep the same value for the two names)

    JavaMail Properties mail.debug=true troubleshoot why alerts are not getting through

    mail.host=localhost

    mail.smtp.password=welcome1

    mail.smtp.port=25

    mail.transport.protocol=smtp

    mail.smtp.user=admin

    [email protected]

    4. Click next to target the mail session to a server (either managed or AdminServer) and click finish. You need to do this so

    that the MailSession is exposed on the servers JNDI tree.

    2.2 SET UP A DIAGNOSTIC MODULE AND DEFINE A METRIC OF INTEREST AS A COLLECTED METRIC

    1. Expand Diagnostics -> Diagnostics Modules and click Module-FMWDFW

    2. Click on the Collected Metrics tab and click New

    3. Select ServerRuntime and click Next

    4. Select ServerRuntimeMBean from the dropdown

    5. From the list of collected attributes select State and move it in the Chosen category; Click Next

    6. From the instances list select the servers you would like to be informed about by selecting an instances and moving it to

    the Chosen category

    7. Click Finish

    2.3 SETTING UP THE NOTIFICATION

    1. Expand Diagnostic Module and click Module-FMWDFW

    2. Navigate to the diagnostic module created above and select Configuration, the Watches and Notifications tab and

    Notification sub-tab. Click New to create a new Notification

    3. Select SMTP (E-Mail) for Type and click Next

    4. Provide a name ServerStateNotification. The notification must be enabled, of course. Click Next.

    5. Configure the following properties for the Config Notification SMTP Properties page and Click Finish

    Mail Session Name MyMailSession

    E-Mail Recipients [email protected]

    E-Mail Subject [Server] Weblogic Server State Notification

    2.4 SET UP A NEW WATCH RULE AND ASSOCIATING IT WITH A CERTAIN NOTIFICATION

    1. Expand Diagnostics -> Diagnostics Modules and click Module-FMWDFW

    2. Click Configuration, Wathes and Notifications and Watches. Click New to create a new Watch

    3. Provide the name ServerStateWatch and select the type as Collected Metrics. Also make sure the watch is enabled.

    4. Click Next

    5. Click Add Expressions

    6. Ensure that ServerRuntime is selected and click Next

    7. From the dropdown, select ServerRuntimeMBean again. The click Next

    8. Select the instance for the appropriate server from the list for Instance and click Next

    9. For Message Attribute select State, != for Operator and type RUNNING (all capital letters) for Value. Click

    Finish the Watch. This Watches will call notification when the server shut down (not running). The value of the

    expression can be add with value BEA-000365 which mean error code for the server down.

    10. The page will be redirected to the Configure Watch Rule Expression and the Current Watch Rule is filled automaticly. Click

    Next

    11. Choose the Dont use an alarm and click Next

    12. Configure Notification for Watches that have created ServerStateNotification

    13. Info that the Watch have been created successfully.
