Mental Health First Aid is the initial help offered to a
person developing a mental health or substance use
problem, or experiencing a mental health crisis. The
first aid is given until appropriate treatment and
support are received or until the crisis resolves.

Catholic Charities’ Successes
• Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Dubuque trained three staff members to become Instructors this past March. In October, they’ll be training approximately 65 school principals in Mental Health First Aid.
• Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City has trained nearly 300 people in Mental Health First Aid.
