Hey everyone! It’s finally fall and before we know it, it will be time for Christmas!! We still have youth on Sunday nights at 7:00 and Bible study on Wednesdays at 7:00. On Sundays, we play a game and worship through song before learning God’s Word. Right now, we’re learning about Biblical dating. The youth leaders would love to see all of you there! Friday, November 11th, we helped out a few of our church members by raking their yards. We raked for a few hours. Then we headed out to the country to make a giant leaf pile to jump in! This is a great ministry opportunity to help out our church members! Starting on November 27 we will begin our celebration of Christmas by observing Advent. The Advent Wreath is the symbol of the celebration. It is a circle of candles used on each of the four Sundays before Christmas with the fifth candle being used at our Christmas Eve service. Although the origin of the wreath is obscure, the use of candles for religious celebration can be traced to the Hebrews. Placement in a wheel or circle came to represent God’s eternity and perfection. Evergreens and candle are used to remind us of God’s gifts of life and Jesus Christ in a world of darkness. The emphasis of the wreath is anticipation of the Messiah’s coming. Alpha and Omega are the overall symbols of Advent. Three of the candles are purple, the season’s penitential color representing the darkness before the light. One candle, the third one, is pink to represent the joyfulness of Christ’s coming.
