Sun Catchers Using a paper plate, cut out the middle. Either stick coloured tissue paper or cellophane to the rim of the plate and hang in the window. Otherwise attach sticky back plastic to the hole in the plate and stick on natural items found in the garden. Decorate the rim as desired. Hang using string.

Sensory Walk Decide on textures before you begin activity so most messy substance is left to last, Place sensory item into a tub or tray. Do not mix the items. Remove shoes and socks. place your child’s feet into the first substance and allow your child to feel the texture. Repeat with other items, wiping your child’s feet before placing into next texture. Or pick items from the garden and stick onto sticky back plastic to create a collage. Smell and feel the natural objects.

Bird Feeder Mix bird seed with lard or peanut butter BEAWARE OF ALLERGIES and DON’T let your child touch the mixture until its cold Explore the mixture with hands or mix using spoon If using an apple, cut in half and scoop out the middle. Place the mixture into the inside of an apple or onto the outside of a toilet roll. When the mixture is set hang in the garden. Wait for the birds

Sensory Bin You can go on a flower hunt or can use man made items from inside the house. Place the items in a tub with either water, jelly, rice depends how messy you want to make the activity and if your child will eat the items. Place your child into the tub, or their feet or

hands, again depends on how messy you want the activity. Allow them to feel and smell the different textures. Support them to fill containers, pour and tip, pour onto different body parts etc. Support to use sieves, jugs etc BEAWARE OF YOUR CHILD EATING THE ITEMS

Please closely supervise your child for all these activities Be mindful of any allergies and if your child will take objects to their mouth Touch

Soak some eggshells in food colouring, when dry place them in a Ziploc bag. Crush /bang the eggshells. This is fun. Allow your child to explore the shells whilst in the bag, shaking the bag, pressing down on it, watching the shells move around, listening to the noise etc or tip them onto a tray to explore. Create a picture

BEAWARE OF ALLERGIES/ TAKING SHELLS TO THEIR MOUTH

Place small amount of paint in Ziploc bag. Zip up and allow your child to explore. If you wish, put the bag in fridge before activity begins so it’s cold. Non messy activity

Massage Session See Tac Pac and story massage ideas

Vision Make a den from upturned chairs or a clothes horse if you haven’t got a small tent. Place fairy lights or light up toys in there so your child can explore them. Make shadows/ projections against the side of the tent for your child to watch.

Sensory Bottles Use clean empty plastic bottles. Fill with any items your child is interested in. Some maybe noisy (rice/lentils/pasta) some maybe visual (pom poms/beads) Sensory bottles can be filled with food colouring and baby oil .
