The Erie Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors is composed of 8 elected individuals and 1 voting Past President. The Board of Directors is a volunteered

position, meeting regularly on the 2nd Tuesday of every month. Among their many responsibilities, they hold their fiduciary obligations to act in the best interest of the

Chamber and its membership as one of their top priorities. In order to stay abreast on Chamber policies and procedures, be on the cutting edge of high tech and innovative tools, and sustain a progressive agenda, the

Board of Directors attend two retreats throughout the year (mid-year and year-end).

Ambassadors

The Ambassadors consist of 12 individuals volunteering their time and talents for the betterment of the Chamber membership and the Erie Community. In addition to a multitude of tasks,

they schedule speakers for presentations and seminars as well as implementing new programs.

EDUCATIONAL

The Erie Chamber of Commerce makes every effort possible to provide educational presentations and materials to its members and the community. We find the value of continuing education programs to be priceless; with today’s ever-changing technology it is imperative that our Chamber Members receive supportive information that will promote and aid them in maintaining a successive business.

We believe in the importance of a higher education. Four years ago, David Stone, one of the original founders of the scholarship fund and a very staunch believer in a college education, passed away. In his memory, the Board of Directors renamed the Erie Chamber Scholarship to the Dave Stone Scholarship.

Each year this scholarship is awarded to two students: 1) attending Erie High School, and/or (2) residing in Erie but attending a High School outside of Erie. In addition to other requirements, the Chamber places emphasis on community service. The Coal Miner Classic golf tournament is the fundraising arm for this scholarship, which awards $2,000 per student.

Below are educational presentations, scholarships, and workshops presented by the Erie Chamber in 2016. Colorado Business Summit – Our first summit was held this year in February at the Lionsgate

Conference Center in Lafayette, Colorado. We anticipate the interest in this educational assembly to continue to grow each year. Open to the public

Mayor’s State of the Town Address – An annual presentation by the current Erie Mayor whereby an over-view of the previous year is given and an outline of the upcoming year is presented. Open to the public

Boulder County Composting Workshop – A presentation by Master Composter of Colorado Melanie Burrow. Open to the public

Candidates Forum – Held in April of those years when the Town’s Erie Board of Trustees are up for re-election. The forum is held at a neutral location. Open to the public

Dave Stone Scholarship Awards – April/May after reviewing written applications and holding oral interviews, two selected recipients are invited, along with their families and friends, to attend an awards celebration and presentation held at the Erie Chamber. Each student receives a $2,000 scholarship. Open to the public

Network at Noon – Held the 1st Tuesday of every month throughout the year. Lunch, speaker, and networking encompass the 1 ½ hour gathering. Speakers and topics relative to businesses and their employees, are selected a year in advance by the Chamber Ambassadors. Attendance: Chamber Members Only

Erie Business Connections – 1st and 3rd Thursdays of every month throughout the year it opportunity for workshops, leads, and speakers. Each meeting a report of “paper” income generated by the leads in this group is reviewed. Chamber Members Only

ANNUAL EVENTS

The following Erie Chamber Community Events are free to the public, sponsored in part by supporting businesses, and generate a networking web for a variety of numerous professional enterprises.

Erie Town Fair and Balloon Festival – Held the 3rd weekend in May and has an estimated attendance of 35,000. The Balloon Festival hosts over 30 hot air balloons over three days and attracts an average of 5,000 on-site viewers per day.

EB Erie Brewfest – Held the 2nd Saturday in June invites 30 participating local Colorado Breweries and attracts over 1,200 “tasters”.

Summer Concert Series – Held the end of May through the first weekend in August, consisting of 5 concerts featuring 5 popular bands. Free concerts hosting an average of 3,000-4,500 happy, dancing families.

Coal Miner Classic Golf Tournament – Held the 1st Friday in September at Erie’s own Colorado National Golf Club. All proceeds from this tournament are dedicated to the Erie Chamber’s Dave Stone Scholarship Fund. Average number of players: 77

Miner’s Blast – Held the 1st Saturday in October and hosts approximately 6,000 in attendance. This year, 2016, the Erie Chamber received the Colorado Association of Commerce & Industry (CACI) first place “Special Achievement Award” for the transformation of this event, offering more kid friendly activities, affordable prices, all while offering “fundraising” opportunities to local organizations and churches.

Love You – Held the 1st Thursday of November attracts over 200 women. Under the premise of health and well-being, the Chamber created the Love You event to nurture, pamper, and destress women before the onset of the holidays. It is completely free to women and includes food, drink, massages, hair designs, nails, facials and more.

Country Christmas and Parade of Lights – Held the 1st Friday in December and attracts over 6,500 holiday guests.

SOCIAL/NETWORKING ACTIVITIES

Annual Business Meeting & Awards Dinner – Held in January every year. A brief over-view of the previous year’s financials and the upcoming year’s budget is presented by the Chamber Treasurer; a message from the newly elected President; a farewell to the outgoing Board of Directors; and, a welcome to newly elected Board of Directors. Award presentations including Business of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, and Ambassador of the Year are given to well deserving recipients. The second half of the evening is

dedicated to a night of light-hearted fun membership and guests. This gives individuals the networking opportunity to learn more about one another, their business, and share business cards.

The following activities listed below are annual. (i.e., casino night, magic show, etc.). Attendance: 125+

Boulder County Chambers Annual Picnic – Held in July every year alternating locations between Erie, Lafayette, Louisville, and Superior. Attendance: 140+

SW Weld County Chambers Annual BAH – Held in July/August every year alternating locations between 12 participating Weld County Chambers. Attendance: 120+

Annual Erie Chamber Board of Directors & Ambassadors Dinner – Held in September. An opportunity for both groups to get to know one another better and for the Board to extend their appreciation to the Ambassadors for all their efforts. Attendance: 46

Annual Holiday Open House – Held the 2nd Wednesday of December from 3:00-7:30 p.m. giving all members an opportunity to stop by the Chamber Office, as we wish everyone the merriest of holidays. Attendance: 150+

The following activities listed below are monthly.

Business After Hours – Held the last Wednesday of every month from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at an Erie Chamber Member’s business. This gives members an opportunity to showcase their business. After Hours are a time to exchange business cards and get to know each other outside of the workplace. Attendance Average: 40

Ribbon Cuttings – Held as needed – usually 2-3/month from 12:00 noon – 12:30 pm. The purpose of this activity is to acknowledge and promote new businesses. Attendance Average: 25+

PUBLICATIONS

In order to better serve the Town of Erie residents, and neighboring communities the Erie Chamber prepares the following publications.

January – Erie Chamber Directory and Community Guide. Distribution is to Erie residents and businesses. Distribution is 10,000 direct mail. Listings and Advertisements are for Chamber members only.

April/May – Spring/Summer Edition of the Erie Lifestyle Magazine. Distribution is to all Erie residents and businesses, Broomfield’s Anthem Highlands and Anthem Ranch, and select areas of Lafayette. Distribution is over 15,500 direct mail. Advertisements are open to the Public.

July/August- Community Map. A community map is published every two years and includes both Town and Regional maps, local street index and information about the Town of Erie. Printed maps are distributed via Chamber lobby, welcome bags, relocation mailings, schools, real estate agents, library, special events, and new member packets. Advertisements are for Chamber members only.

August/September – Fall/Winter Edition of the Erie Lifestyle Magazine. Distribution is to all Erie residents and businesses, Broomfield’s Anthem Highlands and Anthem Ranch, and select areas of Lafayette. Distribution is over 15,500 direct mail. Advertisements are open to the Public.

ERIE TOWN FAIR AND BALLOON FESTIVALThe Hot Air Balloon Festival kicks off the festivities on Friday, for Media Day, Saturday, event sponsors lift off at dawn, and Sunday,

SUMMER CONCERT SERIES

The popular Concerts in the Park Summer Series kicks off its spring and summer season with five FREE concerts. Ease into the evening’s sights, sounds and nature as you take in live music under-the-stars performed by lauded Colorado talent, while savoring a cool soft drink, beer, or glass of wine in-hand. And for the kids, there are complimentary activities throughout the evening, including face painting, balloon twisting and inflatables. COAL MINER CLASSIC GOLF TOURNAMENT

The tournament will be held at the beautiful Colorado National Golf Club, home course for the C.U. Buffs Golf Team. ANNUAL HOLIDAY OPEN HOUSE

The Chamber’s holiday open house gives our members an opportunity to visit, socialize, network and enjoy the holiday spirit and festivities. The hours are from 3:00-7:00 pm, giving most members an opportunity to “stop in” at a time that

is convenient to their work schedule. The tapas are catered from local restaurants and are provided throughout the late afternoon and early evening. Festive holiday beverages are served, door prizes are awarded, and at 5:30 pm the Dave Stone Scholarship Raffle Drawing is held. Erie Business Connections meets on the first and third Thursday of every month from 7:45 – 9:00 am at the Calvary Church in Erie. The newly formed 445 Leads Group meets the second and fourth Tuesday of every month from 4:45-6:00 pm at the Industrial Revolution Brewery. These leads groups offer a continental breakfast, guest speaker, passing of leads, report on “paper dollar amounts” generated from the group’s leads, and a brief time for interaction with each other. It maintains a limit of two professionals/industry and continues to be a popular morning program. The Erie Chamber is fortunate to be located in two Colorado counties. Boulder County is directly to the west of Erie’s County Line Road and to the east is Weld County. Our Chamber meets quarterly with the SW Weld County Chambers to discuss upcoming events, important concerns for the county and chambers, and a traditional joint chambers Annual Business After Hours. Our Boulder County Chambers Partnership also meets quarterly, and, as with SW Weld County Chambers, we share events and concerns along with an annual picnic. Both joint events give our Erie Chamber members an opportunity to meet other people and promote their business outside of Erie. The quarterly meetings keep all Chamber Directors abreast of common concerns, important State and County meetings and programs, and an economic review-to-date in each City and Town. The Town of Erie is located in Boulder and Weld Counties, just west of I-25 for easy access to I-70, Denver International Airport (DIA) and Colorado’s entire Front Range. Erie’s Planning Area spans 48 square miles, extending from the north side of State Highway 52 south to State Highway 7, and between US 287 on the west and Interstate 25 to the east.

According to the results of the Town of Erie 2015 Citizen Survey, there’s plenty of evidence that the Town offers services and amenities that work. An overwhelming majority of Erie residents experience a good quality of life and believe Erie is a safe place to live and raise a family. Furthermore, almost all residents rate their neighborhoods as excellent or good. 93% rate Erie as an excellent or good place to raise children – a rating higher than in comparison to communities nationwide. At least three in five residents give excellent or good ratings to the overall image/reputation of Erie; Erie as

a place to retire; the overall appearance of Erie; Erie’s overall natural environment; Erie’s air quality and the cleanliness of Erie – ratings for all of these characteristics increased from 2013 to 2015.

Almost all residents feel safe in their neighborhoods and give high ratings to the overall feeling of safety throughout Erie – ratings higher than in comparison communities nationwide. All Safety services, including police, fire, ambulance and emergency preparedness are rated positively by a majority of respondents.

In terms of public trust, a majority of residents give positive ratings to the value of services for taxes paid; welcoming citizen involvement; being honest and treating all residents fairly. 80% rate the overall customer service provided by Town employees as excellent or good.

COMMUNICATIONSurvey results indicate the Town is a trusted source for information. The Town website www.erieco.gov and Erie Edition newsletter are the most frequently used sources for residents seeking information about the Town. 93% of residents consider the Town’s website a major or minor source for information and 84% consider Erie Edition a major or minor source of information (both ratings are above the national comparison).

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENTWhile an overwhelming majority of residents rate Erie as a great place to live, only 6% think there is ample shopping opportunities close to home. Not surprisingly, residents support the Town’s efforts to increase local shopping opportunities.

MOBILITYAlmost all aspects of mobility are rated positively by at least 7 in 10 residents. Ratings for the availability of paths and walking trails, travel by bicycle, travel by car, public parking, and traffic flow were all higher than the national benchmarks.

HIGHLIGHTS

Survey results tell us people choose Erie because we offer a small town atmosphere, affordable housing, quality schools, parks and open space all within close proximity to Denver and Boulder. Erie residents enjoy a high quality of life and consider Erie a safe place to raise their families. Senior Community Resource Program

Whatever you are planning, whether it is a small business function or a large party or reunion, the Erie Community Center will help make your event unforgettable! Meeting rooms are available to accommodate 10 –to- 275 people (depending on set-up style) with options for stage and kitchen use.
