The legend of Zelda twilight princess

Masterpiece gallery page 74-83

I chose this book because it had the same rough background idea as mine for my project, dark yet light colours, in a shadowy dream style or memory. Having the main character stand out with bold colours, enemy’s dark and faded but outlined in the frame. The number of concept art for this game differ from a brown, yellow, green to blue, purple, red mainly dark colours and blended all together to give it that greyish, smug outlining what is important about the story.

Character illustrations page 270 – 301

In Link’s warrior and casual clothing they both have the same colours, green being the most obvious, even in wolf form there is still a green tint to the main.

Nearly all the enemies have a hint of the colour red and mostly dark colours like black and brown, the Darknut is a good example as he is wearing black armour with decorative brown colouring with a big weapon that doesn’t look friendly, if enemies don’t have much colour it is more likely going to be on appearance with sticky armour

or weaponry, unlike the DekoToad it has all the friendly colours on its appearance, except its eyes that give off a red glow and the eggs on its back.

The background characters have mostly bright decorative colours being yellow, pink, light blue and green, also to tell between the charters is the eyes, friendly characters tend to have big wide eyes, with blue welcoming eyes, however enemies tend to have squinty red eyes, some are an exception and they may not have any eyes.

The legend of Zelda breathe of the wild page 402-407

Examine the art work for breath of the wild the way they designed it looks if they used a big brush strokes as if it was a quick idea or what might be what to come, new type of outfit and weaponry. The background with the sun setting looks like they have used partridge paper and smudged it by using all the colours they give the characters.

The legend of Zelda ocarina of time page 30 – 31

I was drawn to these two images as it has an ink effect but gave so much detail in the background, the background is black and white but looks like it had a hint of brown, the horse and character only have the colour on them to indicate they are important.

When I studied art and design I did ink printing and what I used was dry point card, the top was shiny and when using a scalpel to cut out the shiny layer, the soft layer will be underneath where the ink can be absorbed and take the shape what you cut out.
