MENTAL MATHS SUBRACTION - Dice subtraction – Choose a series of numbers and write them at the top of your child’s jotter. Roll the dice and subtract it from the given numbers. Write the number sentences in your jotter. 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20 30, 40, 50, 60, 70 Snakes - Counting Back Draw a series of snakes in your child’s jotter and split it into sections. Choose a start number to write in the snake’s head. Children complete the snakes body by counting back in 1’s to fill in the missing numbers. Number range 0 to 30, 30 to 100, Above 100 3 digit numbers. Challenge – Count back in 2’s, 5’s, 10’s . PLEASE COMPLETE 15 MINUTES OF SUMDOG There is a 100 square below to help with the activities this week. Speed Challenge COUNTING BACK– Using a timer e.g. Phone, Alexa, sand timer etc…. Select a number card from the number range. Children write the number on their piece of paper. Turn over the sand timer. How many numbers can they write in sequence from the start number before the timer runs out. They can play against a partner to see who gets the most numbers!. 10 – 30, 30 – 100, 100 and above THREE IN A ROW! – Draw 2 grids in your child’s jotter. One for you and one for them. Write in subtraction number sentences with an answer of 1 to 6 (see example here and also below). Take turns to roll the dice. If you have a Number sentence with that answer cross it out or place a counter over it. The first to get three in a row is the winner! ALTERNITIVEY your child can also play this game on their own. Each time they roll the dice they can write the answer under the correct number sentence.
