Meme ActivityIn small groups, apply Burke’s pentad to “The Danger of a Single Story.” Then, choose something from the TED talk (a quote, a moment, etc.) and make a meme from it in line with the message of the talk (not a meme making fun of it). When you are done, apply the pentad to your meme.
Has the meaning changed with the genre change? How does the pentad change? Has the audience changed (TED talk vs. on social media,
presumably)? What is significant about the change if it has? So, does medium matter? How so?
Be prepared to present your meme / explanation to the class. Have one person from each group email your meme to me before you leave.
