PRESSRELEASE Date: 13.04.22 Autor: Doris Stempfer Seiten: 1 / 3 LignoLoc ® – The first collated nail made of wood The BECK Fastener Group succeeded in creating a comeback for that most traditional of all fasteners, the wooden nail. BECK LignoLoc ® is the first fireable wooden nail applicable with a nailing tool. The nail is made from indigenous beech wood and boast a tensile strength of ~ 250 N/mm 2 . Its mechanical properties allow the nail to be driveninto solid structural timber without drilling pilot holes, using the FASCO LignoLoc ® pneumatic nail gun. The special design of the LignoLoc™ nail tip and the large amount of heat generated by friction when the nail is driven in cause the lignin of the wooden nail to weld with the surrounding wood to form a substance-to-substance bond (wood welding). That has been tested and confirmed by the University of Hamburg. BECK LignoLoc ® wooden nails offer an advantage over fasteners made of aluminium or steel in that they form no thermal bridges and leave no traces of corrosion in the wood.
