ES Remote Learning Plan: For Families

Dear Bond School Super Star Families:

We hope that you and your loved ones are healthy and safe. This is an extraordinary and perplexing time for everyone. Bond School administrators, teachers, and support staff are working diligently to support student learning remotely while encouraging a positive and healthy attitude. We believe that together we will overcome obstacles, roadblocks, and challenges.

Prior to the closure of Bond School, students were given work packets that would enable them to remain academically engaged with content they had already learned. With school closures now extended, we are excited to launch a remote instructional model beginning Monday, April 13, 2020.

Please carefully read the information below to see how we will provide your scholar with remote learning opportunities and experiences. You find out how you can communicate with teachers and staff and locate assignments for your scholar to continue and reinforce their learning while they are home. If there is any way we can support or enhance the education of your child, please feel free to call Bond School at 773-535-3480.

During the school closure, Chicago Public Schools’ goal is to provide students with remote learning opportunities to help minimize instructional loss, provide students with routines and structures to help stay engaged and connected, and ensure that students are healthy. Carrie Jacobs Bond Elementary School will meet these goals by implementing the plan below.

This document summarizes our plan by telling you:1) The minimum amount of time your student should spend in structured academic activity. 2) How you can access learning materials digitally. 3) What key learning platforms your student will use. 4) How your student can access their teacher, and when they should expect feedback on work submitted. 5) How your student can access learning materials if you don’t have easy access to a computer. 6) How we will communicate with you as a school, along with how your student can get support during the school day if they are stuck on an

assignment.
