5) Close your eyes and hold out your hands. Get someone to put an item into items into each hand. Guess which item is heavier, lighter or are they the same. Busy at Maths p121

ones are better), string, stuff to decorate the sticks (paint, ribbon, tape, beads, markers – let your imagination run riot). Tie your decorated sticks onto a larger stick - See images on next page. Hang it outside and listen.

Friday April 17th:1) Spellings: Get someone to ask you to spell any ten spellings from Week 28.2) In your English copy write at least 4 sentences about the book you are reading at the

moment.3) There/their Starlight p40 Activities B and C. 4) Maths Tables: Get someone to ask you ten -11 sums and correct them.

5) Get various items at home. Take any two and compare them – which is lighter/heavier/the same? Measure them on your kitchen weighing scales. Were you correct? Busy at Maths p123 Q3 Only.

6) Irish: Put the three phrases from this week together to make a short conversation.7) PE: How many of the key points on how to balance well can you remember? Have a

balancing competition with your brother/sister/parent. Build an obstacle course outside and get someone to time you going through it. Can you better your time. If it is raining google PE with Joe and Joe Wicks will lead you in a PE Lesson.

Monday April 20th:1) Spellings: Week 29 Day 1: Learn and write three sentences. The Dolch words are the

high frequency or sight words you come across a lot in your reading and writing.2) Complete Just Handwriting page 413) Read the poem “Waiter, There’s a Dog in my Soup” Starlight p42. Discuss the new

words (in bold) with an adult.4) Maths Tables -12 Tables5) Why would you not use stones to weigh things? Would you always get the same answer

if you used different stones? We use the standard unit kilogramme when we are weighing things. We write kilogramme as kg for short. Look at food items in your kitchen. Can you find the weight of the items? Can you find something that weighs 1kg? Busy at Maths p124 Q1 and Q3.

6) Irish: Bia (food) – Encourage your child to find/name these items from the kitchen – calóga (flakes), arán (bread), im (butter), bainne (milk), subh (jam), ubh (egg), tae (tea), caife (coffee), sú (juice)

7) Science: Heat is a form of energy. How many ways can you think of that generate heat? Have a look at this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cVlF2GGljew Read Small World page 66 and complete the activities.

whomever makes a mistake first loses. Busy at Maths p1255) Irish: Ath-cleachtadh (practice) the words from yesterday. Place them all on a table,

child closes their eyes and your remove one or two items. Open eyes and name the missing item(s) in Irish.

6) History: Heating homes long ago. How is your bedroom/bed heated? How did people heat their rooms/beds before electricity? Read Small World p63 and complete.

______? Is/Ní maith liom _____. Is fear liom _____. (I prefer ___)7) Art: We can draw lots of things by starting out with drawing circles using a pencil. The

trick is to draw the circles and other lines very lightly. When your drawing is complete go back over it Rub out the lines you don’t want and make the lines you do want darker. Friday April 24th:1) Spellings: Get someone to ask you to spell any ten spellings from Week 29.2) In your English copy write at least 4 sentences about the book you are reading at the

moment.3) The word too is used when you are comparing things. Starlight p44 Activities B. 4) Maths Tables: Get someone ask you ten -12 sums and correct them.5) In the 100 square on the next page colour all the squares with a unit value of 2 red.

Colour all the squares with a unit value of 4 green. Colour all the squares with a unit value of 6 orange. Colour all the squares with a unit value of 8 blue. Colour all the squares with a unit value of 0 yellow. What do you notice? Is there any pattern?

6) Irish: Write out the three sentences – An maith leat ______? Is/Ní maith liom _____. Is fear liom _____. Do a quick drawing based on the child’s choice of food.

7) PE: Catching: Teaching Point – Keep your eyes on the object throughout the catch. Get someone to throw you a soft item and stand 1 metre apart. How many successful catches in a row can you make? Stand 2 metres apart and repeat. Stand 3 metres apart and repeat. Remember your teaching point.
