Discrete Subjects: Literacy & English - We will be focusing on the volume of our voice when speaking to an audience. We will introduce the magic e rule for spelling. We will develop our writing skills across a range of purposes for writing focusing on using descriptive language. Spanish – We are learning to say the days of the week. Numeracy- We will describe and record partitions of a number. We will develop counting on and back strategies to aid our addition and subtraction skills. Maths We will be focusing on fractions of shapes and an amount. We will learn the months of the year in sequence. Health and Wellbeing- We will be learning how to keep ourselves safe with a focus on road safety, substance misuse and anti- bullying (RRS Article 19) Our Building Resilience focus is Keep Connected and SHANARRI focus is on Nurtured (RRS Articles 5 and 15). PE- We will consolidate and extend our Scottish country dance skills . RE- We will be celebrating Mass for the Feast of All Saints (1st November) We will learn about Advent and the meaning of Christmas. Expressive Arts – We will rehearse and perform the Nativity story. We will participate in music with a visiting specialist. Ethos and Wider Life of the School: At Holy Cross we are very proud of the many ways that we help other people, develop our awareness of the world and learn to be responsible citizens. In P2 we’ll have the opportunity to: *Participate in daily prayers and Mass at school *Develop good relationships *Learn about the importance of pupil voice *Participate in weekly assemblies *Continue to learn about our rights as a Gold Level RRS *Building Resilience – Keep Connected *Learn about the importance of Nurture *Building links with Trinity House and our Interdisciplinary Learning: Holy Cross is working towards the National Nurturing Schools Award. As part of this we are developing a whole school awareness of nurture, the 6 Principles of Nurture and continuing to build strong links with the local community. This term we will be taking part in an enterprise project for our Christmas Fayre which will be held in school. Health and Wellbeing Through this project we will be learning about and developing the Key Skills for Work - initiative, planning, teamwork, communication and problem solving. Maths We will use our knowledge of money when preparing for the Christmas Fayre. Expressive Arts – We will create crafts which will be sold at the Christmas Fayre. Planned Opportunities for Wider Achievement: As well as getting the chance to learn in lots of different ways by making, saying, writing and doing, we’ll also get the chance to learn through different experiences. We will participate in: Gold Medal Award and Values certificate Owl Tokens for following the playground charter Outdoor learning experiences Nativity and Christmas Service Outright Campaign (Global citizenship) 30th Anniversary of UNCRC and Gold RRS Party We will share achievements from clubs Sharing our learning with the rest of the school Class visit to Trinity House. ..
