Reading:For your Reading task this week, we thought it would be a good idea to go back to some Reading Comprehension. Attached as a separate document is the text and questions for you to have a go at.
The extract is called “The City of Secret Rivers”What do you already think it could be about? What genre do you think the text is? Why?
ChallengeCan you create 3 of your own questions about the text? It would be great if each question had a different focus. E.g. vocabulary, inference, retrieval (Use your VIPERS to help you).
Remember to continue to read at home. You can read alone, to parents or to anyone in your house!
Grammar:This week for Grammar, we have uploaded a 10-minute style test for you to have a go at! Why not get someone to time you? Once you have completed the test, use the opportunity to revise any areas you weren’t confident with or lost marks on.
We would also like you to use this opportunity to revise main clauses and subordinate clauses, an area many of you aren’t confident with!
Use the following links to support you:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BT1HhMcB8aw https://www.theschoolrun.com/what-is-a-clause (The video on this link refers to main clauses as ‘major clauses’. This means the same thing).
Once you have a clear understanding, please have a go at the Grammar activities (see separate attachment on the blog). Please choose the level you wish to complete; we are not expecting you to do them all!
Maths:This week we would like you to have a go at ‘Magic Vs’, an Nrich maths investigation. This investigation will require a bit of trial and error. Think carefully about how you could work this out…
ChallengeWhat can you discover about a V that has arms of length 4 using the numbers 1−7?
PE/Active lesson:Why not have a go at some of Kids Zumba workouts at home. Get the family involved!

We would like you to work through the videos and complete the two activities at the bottom.
