We are pleased to send to you the general details and the logistical requirements that may be required by the participants and guests for the 6th ASEAN Scout Jamboree of the ASEAN Scout Association for Regional Cooperation (ASARC), to be hosted by the Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP). General Information The ASEAN Scout Association for Regional Cooperation (ASARC), thru the Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP), is pleased to announce the holding of the 6TH ASEAN SCOUT JAMBOREE on 27 November – 2 December 2017 at the Energy Park, Apokon, Tagum City, Davao del Norte, Philippines with the theme, “Growth and Stability.” The Jamboree is expected to have more than 20,000 participants covering all the 121 Local Councils of the BSP, as well as member-countries of the ASEAN and other countries in the Asia-Pacific Region. Tagum City is the capital city of the province of Davao del Norte, Philippines. The city is part of the Metropolitan Davao area. It is one of top most livable cities in the Philippines, and was one of the finalists in Most Child Friendly City in the Philippines. Aims and Objectives The Jamboree aims to provide a progressive, safe and enjoyable learning environment for the Scouts in order to enhance their physical, social, mental, emotional and spiritual potentials. At the end of the Jamboree, the participants should be able to:
a. Promote ASEAN Community and Solidarity;
b. Promote the highest quality of Scouting, one that is faithful to the mission, principles and method of Scouting and adapted to the needs and aspirations of young people;
c. Undertake high-adventure activities, including community service projects related to the current thrusts of World Scouting (Environment Education, Peace Education and Development Education) through the different World Programmes under the Better World Framework - Messengers of the Peace (MoP) Initiatives, World Scout Environment Programmme (WSEP) and its ancillary programs (Scouts Go Solar, YUNGA Challenge Badges), and the Scouts of the World (SW) Award Programme;

d. Undergo projects, programs and activities that will cater to the fulfillment of the requirements of selected merit badges and scout ranks under the Advancement Scheme;
e. Develop core life skills and 21st century leadership capabilities through team
building, cooperative learning, group dynamics, creative problem-solving and decision-making skills;
f. Keep oneself abreast with the prevailing issues about the environment, human
rights, health, education, culture and science and technology through the Global Development Village, City of Science and Cross Roads of Cultures, among others.
Qualifications of Participants The following are the qualifications for the participating Scouts and Adult Leaders, viz:
a. A Scout is expected to have leadership potentials, sufficient camping experience,
and physically fit to undergo strenuous activities with corresponding parent’s consent and: • Must be currently registered as a Scout • Must be at least nine (9) to twelve (12) years old for Boy Scouts and twelve
(12) to seventeen (17) years old for Senior Scouts • Must be equipped with camping gears
b. Participating Adult Leaders must have the maturity and clarity about his/her role
and: • Must be currently registered • Must be physically fit as certified by a physician • Must be of good moral character • Must be equipped with camping gears • Preferably a Bead Holder or graduates of Advanced Training Courses (ATC) /
Wood Badge Courses Registration Fee and Deadline of Confirmation of Attendance A Registration Fee of ONE HUNDRED TWENTY DOLLARS (USD 120.00) shall be charged for each of the participants in order to defray administrative costs, program materials, in-land transportation to and from the airport and camp site (Davao International Airport to Tagum City), tents for the participants, camping gears, souvenir items and food from Dinner of 26 November 2017 until Breakfast of 3 December 2017. The registration will end by 1159H of 15 September 2017. No registration will be accepted and processed beyond the said date. The deadlines for the registration shall be as follows:

Suggested Arrivals and Departures Those who will be attending the 6th ASEAN Scout Jamboree are requested to arrive in Davao City (Davao City International Airport / Francisco Bangoy International Airport) not later than 26 November 2017, Sunday and are suggested to leave not later than 3 December 2017, Sunday. The duration of stay is for eight (8) days and seven (7) nights. The suggested itineraries of travels are as follows:

The fare for the plane tickets of the participants from Manila to Davao City will be shouldered separately by the participants. Arrangements may be made with the Boy Scouts of the Philippines. It is further requested for the participants to send a copy of their plane tickets and itineraries to the National Project Management Team at [email protected] or at [email protected]. Hotel Accommodation All guests must take care of their respective overseas travel to and from the Philippines. The Boy Scouts of the Philippines shall only be providing for bus transfers from Davao City International Airport / Francisco Bangoy International Airport to the Jamboree Site and vice versa. Program The day-to-day program of the Jamboree is attached for reference. Visa Participants from the various national scout organizations (NSOs) in the Asia-Pacific Region (APR) who would need assistance in the processing of their visa requirements to enter into the Philippines must inform the Boy Scouts of the Philippines ahead of time in order for the host NSO to forward a letter to the different Philippine Embassies/Consular Offices. The Philippines has a No Visa Entry Policy for one hundred fifty one (151) countries for a maximum of thirty (30) days, provided they are holders of a passport valid at least six (6) months beyond the period of stay in the Philippines, and present a return or outward bound ticket to their country of origin or to a next country of destination. Airport Reception Participants who have confirmed their attendance to the Jamboree will be received upon arrival at the Davao City International Airport / Francisco Bangoy International Airport after prior clearance with the Philippine immigration and customs. Local Scouts and Scout Leaders will be waiting at the lobby in Scout Uniforms. Arriving participants are requested to wear at least a Scout Scarf in order to be easily identified. If for any reason there are guests who are not met upon arrival, they may contact the Boy Scouts of the Philippines thru Mr. Manuel G. Isidoro III, Field Services Executive (International Affairs), Field Operations Division at +63 917 915 3647 or +63 998 592 3144. What to Bring • The Philippines has a tropical climate. Participants are advised to bring light
garments, preferably cotton wear. • The dress code for all the activities of the Jamboree are casual wears with the Scout
neckerchief, except for the Opening, Closing and Grand Campfire Ceremonies where participants are required to wear their Scout Uniforms.
How to Get to the Jamboree Site
Tagum City is one of the most progressive city in Metropolitan Davao. It is accessible by plane, by land and by sea. By Plane (Travel by Air) The Davao International Airport has daily flights to and from major cities in the Philippines and weekly flights to Singapore and Manado, Indonesia. The airport is an hour ride from Tagum City. Upon arrival at the airport, metered taxicabs are available and flag down rate is P30 for units with
air conditioner (P26 for units without air conditioner) Minimum fare for a public utility vehicle is P7.00. The taxicabs or PUBs will take you to the bus terminals located at Ecoland, Davao City and from there different kinds of buses will take you safe to Tagum City. The fare is P90.00 for air-conditioned and P76.00 for non-air-conditioned buses. By Ferry (Travel by Sea) Superferry will bring you to Davao Sasa Wharf safely with its three times a week trip if you are from Manila. When you leave Manila on Monday you will reach Davao by Wednesday and if you leave Wednesday you will arrive on Friday and if it’s Saturday you will reach Davao by Monday. You can check their schedules at superferry. If you’re from Cebu City, the trip is only once a week, the departure is Sunday and you will arrive Davao on Monday. If youre from Iloilo City, the departure is every Thursday and the arrival is Friday and if you’re from Zamboanga City the departure is every Tuesday and the arrival is Wednesday.

By Bus (Travel by Land) Tagum City can be reached by land boarding Philtranco Bus from Pasay City via Bicol Region then to Samar, Leyte. From Leyte the bus will board a ferry boat to Surigao City then to Butuan City, San Francisco Agusan del Sur and in a few hours you will reach Tagum City. It took you three days to reach Tagum by land but you will enjoy the scenic views of the Philippine Island from Metro Manila to Visayas and Mindanao.
