Technological advancements has called for more mental stimulation, traditional format only depends upon a form of cognitive response from the user, that involves mental interpretation and reflection, whereas web documentaries, furthers to mental interpretation, and demands a physicality from the user – touch-screen gestures, speech, using a keyboard and a mouse.

Web documentaries and its Influence on Online Journalism: online journalism soars as the traditional print declines, society demands for accessibility and consumption within minimal time. Trends show the Independent seeks to loose the most, circulation will drop by 64% within five years, leaving the Independent with a circulation of 31,000. Giving web documentaries a large void to fill by the convergence of audio, graphics, text and photos to notify the masses.

ConceptSubject for Web Documentary: my concept for a news worthy web documentary would be based on visually showcasing artists' materials throughout Hull city centre. The public will submit online three words to best describe Hull and it will be these artists sporadically located within the city centre to illustrate this. Social media site Twitter, will act as a tracker and a gallery for the public to submit their photographers/footage using #Hull2017.

Its a process to answer to the population of Hull, that City of Culture 2017 is developing and to diminish thoughts of wasting public's money. The gallery selected is called “Studio Eleven” it resides on Humber Street, which has an extensive history to Hull as well as being a focal point to the issue of recession. Humber Street is a great example of rejuvenation and City of Culture will be another example for the city of Hull.

Target Audience: naturally the audience will fall to the consistent “art goers,” and will be traditionally inform the gallery's website. Nonetheless, a purpose made website will be the platform for the online survey – supported by “Studio Eleven” and linked to Twitter. These platforms will increase the younger audience as there is a level of interaction required. Lastly, the location will furthermore expand the target audience.
