Plan for the Future
• Texas remains a top state in job growth from September 2013 to 2014,
with a rate of 3.6%, 1.7 percentage points higher than the national
average.
• Texas has added far more “good jobs” than the rest of the nation. The
upper two quartiles accounted for 55% of new job growth since 2000. (Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas)
• The state's unemployment rate has been at or below the national rate for 7
consecutive years. (State Comptrollers Office)

• Parker County issued 293 single-family housing permits from the start of
the year through September 2014. This is a 35.6% increase from the
same period in 2013. Multi-family permits are up 9.3% from the

• While new home starts under $150,000 have dropped 6% since 2012,
starts of homes priced more than $300,000 increased 13.4% in DFW.

Texas Economic OverviewTexas Energy is Key to Growth
• Texas is home to the two largest producing oil reserves in the nation.
• The U.S. has become the world’s largest oil producer, passing Saudi Arabia and Russia.
• U.S. output is more than 11 million barrels per day in the first quarter of 2014, according to the
International Energy Agency. They predict the U.S. could produce 19 million per day by 2019.
• Texas is responsible for 36% of U.S. oil production, making it the number one oil producing
state.

Texas Health Resources• The new Texas Health Resources’ $20
million, 60,000 sq. ft. outpatient center in
Willow Park is nearing completion
• It will have an emergency department,
medical office buildings, lab services and
advanced imaging
• Located at I-20 and Crown Pointe Blvd
• Anticipates adding 60-100 new jobs
Rehab Hospital Under Construction• The 27,000 sq. ft. hospital will be the first free-standing
inpatient rehabilitation hospital in Weatherford
• Expected to open early 2015
• It will create about 120 new around the clock nursing
care jobs
• The hospital will have 26 beds for physical,
occupational, respiratory and speech therapy
• Located on Santa Fe and Foster Lane
Additional Notes from Weatherford’s Economic Development Department:
• A 75,000 sq. ft. movie theater and bowling alley will open in the next year creating 80 new jobs
• A beverage distribution warehouse currently located in Palo Pinto County is relocating to the
Weatherford area. The warehouse will move its 100 jobs, but anticipates 10-20 jobs turnover
• Several franchise restaurants are coming to town in the next year. Expect 15,000 sq. ft. of new
dining facilities around Weatherford by summer 2015
• A chemical manufacturing company in Weatherford is working to double its existing warehouse
space, adding 100,000 sq. ft. and 15 jobs

Summary
• Texas economy continues to be the strongest state
economy in the country.
• DFW will continue to be a leader in job and population
growth due to the energy boom and its diverse economy.
• The housing market in DFW continues to grow, as the
area saw more than 22,500 annualized starts in 2Q14.
• Two medical centers under construction in Weatherford
are nearing completion.
• Silverstone and Lockwood Estates will be delivering lots
in early 2015.
• Weatherford ISD can expect an increase of
approximately 300 students during the next 5 years.
• 2019/20 enrollment projection = 8,033.
• WISD is projected to have over 8,500 students for the
2024/25 school year.
