below the dew point so they are are most common in high areas; on
coasts in summer and far inland in winter. Fog / mist Flooding

where moist rain- bearing winds first hit the land. High land also
encourages additional rainfall although the effects of flooding may
be worst in the low lying land further down the river systems.

common in coastal areas, especially in the west where the main
storm systems come off the Atlantic. Upland areas can also

England are most drought prone due to the Continental climate

temperatures and moist air. It is cold at high altitudes (eg
hills), high latitudes (eg the North) and in the South East
(continental effects). Cold moist air is common near the East coast
