  • 1. WEATHERThe day-to-day condition of the atmosphere at a placewith respect to the temperature, humidity , rainfall, windspeed etc is called the weather at that place. The temperature, humidity ,and other factor are calledthe elements of the weather. The weather reports are prepared by the meteorologicaldepartment of the government .To measure minimum and maximum temperature specialthermometer are used called minimum andmaximum thermometer. All the changes in weather are caused by sun.

2. CLIMATEThe average weather pattern taken over a long time, says 25 years, is called the climate of the place.Rajasthan receives very little rainfall . This is the typicaldesert climate. It is hot and dry. The north-easternIndia receives rain for a major part of year. Thereforewe can say the climate of the north-east is wet. 3. CLIMATE ANDADAPTATIONClimate has a profound effect on all living organisms.Animal are adapted to survive in the condition in whichthey live.To live in different climatic region animals have specialprotecting features.Feature and habits that help animals to adapt to theirsurroundings are a result of the process of evolution. 4. POLAR REGIONThe polar region present an extreme clod climate .Animals living there have adapted to these severe condition. For example- 5. POLAR BEARS ANDPENGUINS Polar bears- they have a thick layer of fur to protectthem from extreme cold. They have a very strong senseof smell to locate and catch there prey. They has longcurved and sharp claws to walk on ice. It has a layer offat under its skin to keep them warm. They are goodswimmers also.Penguins - they also have thick layer of skin to keep themwarm. Penguins huddled together to keep them warm. Likepolar bear they are also good swimmers. Other animal that live in these region are oxen, reindeers, musk, fishes, seals, whales, and birds. 6. THE TROPICAL RAINFORESTThe tropical region has generally a hot climate becauseof its location around the equator. Even in the coldestmonth the temperature is generally higher. Theseregion get plenty of rainfall. Tropical rainforest arefound in Western Ghats, Assam in India, South eastAsia, Central America, and central Africa. The majoranimal that live there are monkeys, apes, gorillas, tigers, elephants, leopards, lizards, birds and insects. 7. ANIMALS OF TROPICALRAIN FOREST RED EYED FROGRed Eyed Frog has developedsticky pads to climb on trees on which they live. TOUCANIt has a long, large beak. It helps a toucan to reach thefruits on branches which are otherwise to weak to support itsweight. 8. ANIMALS OF TROPICALBIG CATS RAINFORESTThey have thick skin, sharp eyesight, sensitive hearing andskin colure to camouflage by blending with the surrounding. 9. WHAT WE HAVE LEARNTThe day-to-day condition of the atmosphereat a place with respect to the temperature,Humidity, rainfall, wind-speed.etc is called theweather at that place. The weather is generally not the same on anytwo days and week after week. All the changes in the weather are driven bythe sun.The average weather pattern taken over along time, say 25 year, is called the climate ofthe place. The tropical and the polar regions are thetow region of the tow region of the earth, which have severe climatic condition. 10. WHAT WE HAVELEARNTAnimals are adapted to the conditions in which they live.Animals in the polar region are adapted to the extremelycold climate by having some specialcharacteristic such as white fur , strong sense of smell, alayer of fat under the skin, wide and large paws forswimming and walking, etc.Migration is another means to escape the harsh, coldcondensation. 11. WHAT WE HAVELEARNTBecause of the hospitable climaticcondition huge population of plant andanimals are found in the tropical rainforest.Animals in the tropical rainforest areadapted such that they eat differentkinds of food to overcome thecompetition for food and shelter. Some adaptations of animals living inthe tropical rainforests include livingon the trees, development of strongtails, long and large beaks, brightcolors, sharp pattern, loud voice, dietof fruits, sensitive hearing, sharpeyesight, thick skin , ability tocamouflage in order to protect 12.
