Hi, I am Giruvegan (My real name is Rob) and I am a regular now in theNeoseeker and Supercheats Forums. I think FF12 is superb and even though I hadfinished the storyline of the game I became obsessed with collecting everyitem. Now I know there are others like me and I started off by posting a fewguides in the forumon how to get hold of some of the really rare items.Finally, at the suggestion of someone on Neoseeker (see credits), I decided towrite this guide on the location of every Weapon, Armour and Accessory in thegame. You can print this off and, as you get each item, tick it off andeventually you can end up with a FULL inventory. I wish you every success andhope this guide helps you to find the ever elusive item that always seems toplague us all.
_______________________ 2. Explanation of terms
_______________________
With each weapon, armour and accessory I have added some details about them,though nowhere near every piece of info that there is for them. Weapons haveAttack and Evade stats. Shields have Evade and Magick Evade stats. Armours maycontain any of the following, depending on which is applicable to the type of armour worn. Defence, Magick resist, HP and MP increase and Strength stats. Alldetails are given of their elemental and special abilites, the cost of buyingand selling and where they are available from. If I have found it necessary Imay also have added a comment about a certain piece of equipment that thereader may find of interest, a few of which lead to guides to obtain certain
items which are difficult to get hold of. With Accessories I have added thenecessary info to each one individually as it is necessary.
Availability:
The location of each item can be in one or more of many different kinds of places. They can be in Treasure Chests, Shops, with Merchants, Rewards, aSteal, Drop or Poach from a Foe or an item available in The Bazaar. Whilst Ihave listed quite a few places for each item, I know that there are more placesthat the item can be found in. If had researched every place for every itemthen this guide would have been completed around the time Final Fantasy LXVII(67) came out! So if you do find something in a place that I haven't statedthen PLEASE don't email me to tell me. I will give some examples of how this
guide works so that you will be able to understand how I have written it. Whenit comes to stats, buying and selling etc, I think the Guide speaks for itself.The more difficult things lie in the availability of items. So the best thingfor me to do is to take one item and explain how I've done it. That way you canapply it to all the others to get the necessary information you want.
only item available - keep stealing till you get it): Rare steal - Disma (Lhusu Mines/Site 5 & 6-South)- only item
available - keep stealing till you get it
(b) Explanation
[Mirage Vest] Light Armour11 - 50 LP : [Item Name] Category - Licencepoints neededDefence..........: 45 : Increases Defence Stat by 45Element..........: None : No Elemental Properties (eg AbsorbIce)Special Abilities: None : No Special Abilities (eg On hit-Poison)Buy..............: 16000 : Costs 16000 gil to buy from shop or
merchantSell.............: 8000 : Sells for 8000 gil to shop or merchant.
This is where it gets a little difficult so I will explain what this means.Whenever availability starts with a percentage it is refering to a treasure
chest. This time it means that the chest will appear "100%" of the time. It'sin the "Lhusu Mines" in the area "Site 5" in the "Southeast" region of the Map.The percentage figure in brackets is the actual chance that you get the itemwhen you open the chest. It takes into account the fact that the chest isalready there and whether or not gil is involved. So in this example the chestis there 100% of the time and you will get the item 10% of the time but youneed the Diamond Armlet equipped. If it doesn't mention the Diamond Armlet thenyou don't need it. Ok, lets look at the next one.
This chest appears "50%" of the time in the "Cerobi Steppe" in the area "OldElanise Road." It's in the "North-Central"" area of the map and you'll get theitem "5% of the time with the Diamond Armlet equipped." Next example:
===============================================================================Available from...: 100% Great Crystal/Sirhru Jilaam Praa'vaa (Central) (12.5%)===============================================================================
Chest appears 100% of the time in the Great Crystal in the "Sirhru JilaamPraa'vaa" area. It is central on the map and will contain the item 12.5% of thetime.
You can buy this item from the Travelling Merchant Number 2 in Lowtown at theprice stated where it says "Buy". However, it will only be in stock "After youhave received the Treaty Blade." If an Item is to be bought from a Merchantthen my Guide will always state [Name of Merchant] @ [Name of Location]. If it
just states [Name of Location] (eg Rabanastre) then it refers to the SHOP inthat Town. Each will be followed by restrictions should there be any.
===============================================================================Available from...: Rare steal - Dheed (Mosphoran Highwaste/Skyreach Ridge -only item available - keep stealing till you get it)=========================================================================
======
Item can be stolen (Rarely) from monster "Dheed" Located in the "MosphoranHighwaste" in the area Skyreach Ridge. You can also see by the information thatthis is the only item that the monster has so keep on stealing till it gives itto you.
item available - keep stealing till you get it)===============================================================================
Same principle, different monster in a different place. If a monster can befound all over an area then just the location will be given. For example Hyena- Giza-dry. No need to specify the location as its found in many places in thatregion.
If an item is available in the Bazaar the guide will state its Bazaar name,what you need to sell for it to become available, and how much it will cost youto buy it from the Bazaar.
---------------------
This is basically how my guide works, whether you are looking for a Weapon, aShield, Armour or Accessory. Like me, there are a lot of people who are never satisfied until they have collected everything there is to be collected.Hopefully this guide will show you where to find everything and, if appropriate, how to get hold of it.
The guide to every weapon, armour and accessory now follows. It has taken me along time to put this together and it is also my first attempt at doing aGuide. I really hope it is of use to you. Good luck with your search.

It is nothing special as far as weaponsgo but, for those who want to collect everything, this is going to be your biggest challenge of all. I have written a guide on how to get this item andyou will find it in Appendix A at the end of this guide. Believe me, unlessyou're very lucky, this is going to be a long haul quest. First time it took me6 HOURS!! I know one person who took 27 hours to get it. But when you DO get
it, it is SO satisfying to know you have done something that the vast majorityof people haven't done. So, with time to spare, off to Appendix A.

Getting the Danjuro Dagger ==========================
It was whilst trying to get this Rare Weapon that I discovered there wasn't ahuge amount written on this subject, even though it's a toughie to get hold of.Or maybe I was looking in the wrong places. However, I managed to get theDanjuro and I wanted to pass this info on to those who are struggling. Whilst Iagree that this is not the only way to get it, I happen to know that this is a
CAST IRON CERTAINTY to work because I have already done it.
I am going to concentrate on one specific area in the Great Crystal and that isWaystone XIV. There are many maps available online and I urge you to make useof one of them. When you get to Waystone XIV you are only going to beinterested in 4 areas there, one of them purely for respawning purposes. Belowis a very crude representation of these areas.
1. Sirhru Phullam Udiipratii........For Respawning Purposes Only2. Dha Vikaari Dhebon Pratii........Waystone XIV area3. Sthaana Leo......................Leo Gate Stone Area
4. Sirhru Phullam Pratii'vaa........Leo Gate
This is the order they appear in on the map from North to south and when Irefer to them in this post I will use the number as well as the area name or description. OK, down to the business of getting this Danjuro Dagger.
The only way to get the Danjuro is from a Rare Drop by the VERY Rare Game,Larva Eater. Now, like I said, there is more than one place that Larva Eater will spawn but I am going to concentrate on this area only. Larva Eater willspawn at Waystone XIV (2). This is what you have to do to get it to appear.
In the Leo Gate Area (4) and the Leo Gate Stone Area (3) you will find loadsand loads of Necrophobes. They keep popping up out of nowhere. You need to
start a chain of these and get it to 256 for Larva Eater to appear.Yes....that's right....256 !!! Now there aren't an infinite number of these soevery so often you will need to go through Waystone XIV (2) into the Respawningarea (1) which is 2 zones away and also contains Necrophobes. You can kill afew there if you wish and then return to the Leo Gate Stone Area (3). Now whenyou pass through Waystone XIV (2) there may well be Reapers there. Do NOT killthem as it will break your chain. It doesn't matter if the chain is broken asyou can actually kill 256 of ANYTHING but by chaining Necrophobes you canaccurately keep track of how many you've killed. Just flee into the next areaand leave the Reapers alone.
Ok. You now have (after a fair while) a chain of 256. Larva Eater will nowappear at Waystone XIV (2) with the Reapers. If he isn't there (highlyunlikely) just zone in and out a few times till he does appear and then go killhim!! Use the gambit [Foe: ice weak: Attack]. Don't use Blizzaga or you'llattack the Reapers too. By using the gambit I just mentioned you will onlyattack Larva eater. You may be very lucky and when you kill him as there is avery small chance he could drop the Danjuro first time. But don't hold your breath!!
Right, having defeated him, go back into the Leo Gate Stone area (3). Thiswhole area has to be cleared of Necrophobes now. Do not EVER go back to theRespawning area (1) again as you need the Leo Gate Stone area (3) to have NOmonsters in at all. When you are happy that you have cleared the areasuccessfully and there are no more necrophobes there go take a peek in theWaystone XIV area (2). (You must have killed at least 30 since you killed Larvaeater. If you're short nip into the Leo Gate area (4) and kill a few more tillyou have enough.) Larva Eater may well be there again. If he is, kill himagain. Now remember this: Every time you kill Larva eater you should move tothe Leo Gate area (4) which is 2 zones away and then return to Waystone XIV (2)
because Larva Eater sometimes respawns straight away!! If he isn't there thenthis is what you must do.
Keep zoning in and out of Waystone XIV (2) and the Leo Gate Stone area (3) for 10 minutes!!! You can use a rubber band on your controller to keep the leftdirectional lever held back which will keep you zoning back and forth. Don'tskimp on this time. Watch tv or something. At the end of 10 minutes go take apeek at the Waysone XIV area (2). Larva Eater will be there with the Reapers.Kill him and this will be Number 2 in your chain of Larva eaters. Now go to LeoGate area (4) (2 zones away), return to Waystone XIV (2) and see if he hasrespawned. If not, then repeat the zoning in and out again for 10 minutes andthen kill Larva Eater again when he reappears. Eventually you will build up agood chain and, the longer it gets, the more drops it will make and you will
get the Danjuro eventually. I got mine on the 26th chain which, allowing timefor making cuppas etc, took me around 6 hours. Believe me.....to get theDanjuro, 6 hours chaining Larva Eater is NOT very long!!
One word of warning. The vast majority of time Larva Eater will appear with 3Reapers. I can tell you.....they will kick your butt all over the place so makesure you have good healing gambits set up because you must NOT kill a Reaper or it will destroy your chain. Reapers slap you around, cast Magic, Doom andDeath, nick your MP, make you cook the dinner, do the washing up AND get youmowing the lawn afterwards....so make sure you can cope with all that. KillLarva Eater and then leg it back into the Leo Gate Stone area (3) FAST!!
If you do everything I have said in this post I will guarantee that you will
get the Danjuro Dagger. How long it takes will vary as it's down to percentagesand random numbers. Some will get it quick and others will take ages. Hopefullyyours will be one of the shorter outings!

Getting The Grand Helm======================
The Grand Helm is the strongest of the Helm/Heavy Armours, better even than theMagepower Shishak and because it's the best Helm it is, as always, verydifficult to get hold of. It is a rare drop (3%-12%) and the only place to getit from is from the Rare Game, Tower, who resides in one pokey little place inthe Pharos Lighthouse. I guess it could be worse....he could be in the GreatCrystal. So, first thing for you to do is to get your butt to Pharos. You needto make your way to the Gate Crystal in the Wellspring at Pharos. By using theWaystones and the Dais of Ascendance make your way to the 3rd Ascent/SpireRavel/1st flight which is where our quest begins.
*ROUTE THROUGH PHAROS TO STARTING POINT.*
For those that are totally familiar with Pharos or have a map, this part willnot be needed by you so you can move to the next section. For others, this iswhat you must do in order to get to the correct level of the Pharos Lighthouse.Obviously, the first thing is to get to Pharos via the Gate Crystal. If youhave no teleport stones then use the Strahl to get to Ridorana Cataract. Makeyour way along the Footfalls of the Past, through Echoes from Time's Garden,City of Other Days and the Path of Hidden Blessing. This will bring you toPharos/1st Ascent/They who Thirst Not. Walk along this pathway and you willcome to The Wellspring which is where the Gate Crystal is and our startingpoint for the rise to the 3rd Ascent. Fortunately, because you've already beenhere before (well I hope you have) and done this section already, you aren't
going to have to climb up all those stairs to get to the top section of Pharos.Now isn't that a relief?
Ok....you're in the Wellspring which is where The Gate Crystal, The Dais of Ascendance and a Waystone are all located. It's the Waystone that you want sogo over and touch it and you will be transported to the Wellspring Ravel/1stFlight. From there, use either door to make your way through 2 small areas (youcan't go wrong) to the outside. If there are any monsters around you can takethem out if you like because, for now, fighting is allowed. When you are readyyou need to head North which is slightly to your left as you came out of theroom into the open. Move along the pathway and you will come to an open doorwaywhich is where there used to be a false wall. There may well be a treasure urnin front of you. Feel free to open it as there is a reasonable chance it
contains an Elixir. Now, if you turn and face to the right after going throughthe doorway, directly in front of you is The Dais of Ascendance. Move up to itand select Floor 50 and this will take you to an area called Horizon's Cusp. Asyou leave the Dais you will be on one of those circular paths that seem to bequite popular to the builders of Pharos. Walk round to the opposite side andyou will come across another waystone. Touch it and now you will be taken to2nd Ascent/The Reach. Hey hey!! We're moving up! Guess what? You're on another circular path. Round you go to the other side where you'll find the Dais of Ascendance again. This time select Floor 67 and you'll arrive at 2ndAscent/Reach of the Occult. Rotate the camera angle around and you will see a
Waystone in front of you. But before you go to the waystone, move to your rightand you will find a save crystal. This is your last opportunity to save for awhile. Having done that, go to the waystone, touch it and you'll be sent to the3rd Ascent/Spiral Ravel/1st Flight. This is the starting point to what I willrefer to as The Loop. Right, let's get this show on the road, find Tower andget that elusive Grand Helm.
*THE LOOP*
So you're in the room at the 3rd Ascent/Spire Ravel/1st Flight. Head out of theroom and directly in front of you is a Carven Pillar with steps either side of it. Go up the steps to the left of the Carven Pillar and in the Northwestcorner is a waystone called the Black Sigil. There are also monsters on thisLoop and if you want to slap 'em around a bit then feel free. For now it ispermitted. Very shortly ALL monster fighting will be banned!! Ok, monstersbashed in? Touch the Black Sigil and you will be transported to the next zone.Here, head straight forward past 2 Purobolos Bombs and go up the steps. Followthe path past 3 more Bombs until you come to an open doorway to a large roomcontaining a Cataract Aevis. No need to go in.....instead, turn to the left andgo up the steps. Turn left again, up more steps and you will see another
waystone, The Green Sigil, directly in front of you. Touch this to move on tothe next zone. You are now in Spire Ravel/2nd Flight. Head past the 2 Bombs andgo up the steps where you'll see 3 more Bombs. Now go to the Northwest corner and you will see the waystone Red Sigil which you have to touch to move to thenext zone which is a little trickier. Go past 3 Bombs, up the stairs wherethere is a Cataract Aevis guarding 4 waystones. The waystone you touch dependsentirely on something you did when you were at Pharos the first time. Remember the time when you had to give up one of 4 things in order to be able tocontinue with the game? You had to give up the Attack Command (Steel), MagickCommand (Magick), Item Command (Wealth) or Minimap (Knowledge). Whichever of these you gave up, you now have to touch the corresponding waystone in thisarea. So which one? This is what the waystones correspond to.
This is how the waystones are situated in the 4 corners as you look from thebottom of the steps:
Yellow.............Pink
White..............Purple
Touch the one that corresponds to what YOU gave up during the game. Personally
I gave up the minimap so I had to touch the pink waystone. You must do the onethat's correct for you.
Now you have arrived in the next zone. Immediately turn to your right (facingNorth) and head up to the end of the corridor. On the left is a doorway wherethere used to be a false wall. Go through it (avoiding the Stone Gas Trap) andhead to the waystone at the end of that corridor. This waystone will take youto a small zone where the Dais of Ascendance is. This area is also WHERE YOUFIND TOWER !! So before you touch the waystone make sure you're prepared for battle.
Tower is weak to Dark but absorbs Holy so those of you who have Excalibur canchuck it in the bin for now. Tower will have Protect, Shell and Bravery cast onhim so Dispel that before battle. It's not a tough battle, just keep poundingaway at him. I enjoyed using the Iga and Koga blades as they do dark damage andthe multiple hits are great to watch. Tower casts lots of different Blackmagics but you shouldn't have a problem with them. However, he will use Graviganow and then and that does severe damage so make sure your Curaja or whatever is close to the top of your gambits. So, are you ready to go get him? Thentouch the waystone.
NO TOWER THERE? That's cos there is only a 20% chance he is here. (He may wellbe there but for this guide I am assuming that the first time you arrive herehe isn't). No problem. To your right there is a waystone. Go touch it and itwill take you to a zone where there is a door in front of you. Ignore the door because directly behind you is another waystone that will take you back to thezone where Tower hangs out. Keep using these waystones to zone back and forthuntil Tower shows up. You'll know when he's there as he fills most of the
screen on arrival! Right, now kick his butt.
Duffed him up ok? Now here is a little bit of bad news. Because you defeatedhim you now have to go 2 zones away to get him to respawn. Zoning back andforth with the 2 waystones won't work because it's only 1 zone. You are gonnahave to go round the loop again. Don't worry, it doesn't take long. So zone outof Tower's area via the waystone to where the door is. Go through the door andstraight on to the next door. Before you open the 2nd door a piece of advicefor you:
TURN YOUR GAMBITS OFF !!!!
All fighting has now finished. You kill nothing now except Tower or you'll
break the chain and the chain is what will make Tower drop more items and giveyou a much better chance of getting the Grand Helm. Plus it's also verydifficult to be trying to touch waystones when your party are intent onattacking something close by cos their gambits are on. So turn 'em off! I amnow also going to give you a warning. When using the different waystones DON'Tget it wrong. The first time you do you will be sent back a zone. No probs. The2nd time you will be put in a place where you'll have to fight umpteen monsters
just to get out and that will destroy your chain on Tower!! So take care whenusing the waystones and GET IT RIGHT!!
Ok, now open the 2nd door and you'll find you're almost back to where youstarted. Go up the steps, turn left, turn left again up more steps and you'llsee the Black Sigil in the Northwest corner. Follow the Loop I described
earlier and make your way back to where Tower is. Remember, before you use thewaystone that takes you into Tower's zone.....
TURN YOUR GAMBITS BACK ON !!!
If he's there, defeat him and then go round the loop again. If he isn't, thenzone in and out with the 2 waystones till he is there, defeat him and go roundthe loop again. Rinse and repeat and build up that chain until he drops a GrandHelm (or as many as you want). It shouldn't take long. I got my first in justover an hour. When you have got your Grand Helm (or as many as you want.....1
for all party members and 1 each for your mum and dad if you like) and you wantto leave, go through the 2 doors and up the stairs and turn left. On the rightis the room you arrived in. The waystone in there will take you back to theWellspring and the Gate Crystal where, clutching your freshly gained GrandHelms in your grubby palms, you can save and transport to wherever you want togo next.
So there you have it. This is, in my opinion, the easiest way to get the GrandHelm.

Getting The Grand Armour
========================
This Rare Game is the only place to get the Grand Armour and when you do gethim to appear it's a stupid chance like 1%-5% he drops it. So you gotta chainhim by grabbing his loot and zoning out before he crumples on the floor indeath and the EXP and LP are displayed. This is easier said than done becausehe's in the way when he drops his loot. Or is it?
I have found a way to chain Helvinek SO easily AND get his loot most of thetime with minimal risk. What you need to do when he appears is to get him inthe corridor on the stairs next to where the zones meet. In my diagram below Ihave given you the location where I fought him which was on the stairs between
the Hall of the Ivory Covenant and the Cloister of the Highborn. I faced himhead on ALL the time and we both had our backs to the corridor wall. If mycharacter tried to move I moved him back so that both Helvinek and wereparallel to the blue dotted zone line. The trick up my sleeve for beatingHelvinek yet having plenty of time to grab the loot and cross the line is toget his HP to below 10k and then USE HOLY!!!!!!
Personally, I preferred to battle Helvinek ALONE !!! This is why. With too manycharacters there is a chance of getting in each other's way and losing vitalseconds. With 3 characters Helvinek will be teleporting all over the place tododge them all. You NEED him to stay in the one place! Two characters may alsoattack at the same time (even making multiple hits) causing Helvinek's HP todrop to zero. You won't get to cast Holy and you may not only miss the chance
of the loot, but also fail to cross the zone line in time as you were caughtunawares. If you're strong enough (and you should be to hold your own inNabudis) then you can fight Helvinek alone quite easily. Here is the set up Iused to fight alone:
Vaan equipped with Excalibur and the accessory, Ribbon.Equip a Black mask and you will absorb any Dark damage Helvinek inflicts.
Any ally : ShellAny ally : ProtectAlly: HP<60%: Curaga (Needs to be fairly high as you have the Shell Gambit)Foe: HP<10,000: HolyFoe: Nearest Visible: Attack
(For me, Vaan hit for 9999 with Excalibur. The battle was 10 or 11 hits (Due toHelvinek's Low HP Def+ Augment)and one Holy spell, grab the loot, cross theline and start again.
Below is a Diagram of the Battle Positions. Take note of the " + "
So Helvinek has his back to one wall in the corridor and you to the other andyou're both parallel to the zone line. The idea is to defeat Helvinek, grab theloot and disappear over the zone line before Helvinek falls down and the EXPand LP are displayed. If you cross that line in time, Helvinek will respawn onthe other side with you. Now it can be a little difficult to grab the loot andcross the line as Helvinek tends to stay facing you if you try to move and the
loot tends to appear near his hind quarters. So use my little trick, getHelvinek's HP to below 10K and then CAST HOLY ON HIM. If you're well levelledup you should do 9999 damage as Helvinek is weak to Holy. The time the graphicstake to display and then die down give you time to get into position for grabbing the loot.
Now when it does the graphics for the Holy spell let it really get going andcrash and explode around Helvinek and start to die down. That is the time toquickly nip to the spot between Helvinek and the zone line marked by the " + ".He WON'T turn around if you've waited for the Holy spell to kick in cause thedamage and then begin to die down, making it easy to run along his flank. Theloot will pop out there, hit you on the head and you have lots of time to getover the line. If it doesn't appear straight away then it ain't gonna be thereso dive across the line into the next zone where Helvinek will respawninstantly. Or if you have a little trouble just forget the loot, cross the lineand DON'T miss the respawn. Rinse and repeat. It's the casting of Holy at theend that makes it easier and gives you the time to collect the loot and zoneout safely.
I am in the middle of a chain right now (having a coffee break and writing this
whilst the game is on pause). So far my chain stands at 64 and I have 5 GrandArmours which are very rare. This really is simple to do and it will enable youto get a very rare piece of equipment. I hope you have success.
