WHAT’S HAPPENING.
The blogs give the flavour of our rich
curriculum. Despite the pressure to meet
the demands of the new year group
curriculum standards our aim is to
con"nue to provide curriculum enrichment
and crea"ve opportuni"es so that our
curriculum meets the needs of all learners
in a holis"c way. KS1 SATs
Following much
publicity, the
children in Yr2
have almost
finished their
SATs. Miss
Scothern has
worked
excep"onally
hard to ensure
the children
were well prepared. The SATs will con"nue to
be conten"ous. Michael Rosen, the author is my
hero! He con"nues to speak out very publically
about the SATs. I just wish the government
ministers would listen! Here is the link to his

Bullying is….. ‘A persistent, deliberate
a'empt to hurt or humiliate’
Punctuality
Please ensure your child is in
their class line for 8.50am.
Late arrivals this week
Recep"on - 3
Yr1 - 2
Yr2 - 7
Yr3 -4
Yr4 - 4
Yr5 - 2
Yr6 - 2
This week’s Total: 24
Last week’s Total: 29
Last week the number of ‘lates’ was very high.
Reducing the number of lates is one of our post
OFSTED Targets. Punctuality really must improve. Do
ensure the children are ready and in the class lines for
8.50. If parents would like to offer any sugges"ons
how we can eradicate poor punctuality please let me
know. There is a sugges"on box in the recep"on area.
It is a huge worry that week a>er week we have high
levels of lates. We cannot begin our journey to out-
standing if we do not have be'er punctuality and
a'endance which is consistently reaching 97%. Mrs D
Congratula"ons to the children who par"cipated in
the Race for Life
Event. The response
has been fantas"c.
Ruby Stewart man-
aged to get £145 of
sponsorship. Ethan Jones has brought in £70 and
Hannah Ritchie £65. Well done, everyone.
Many families have experiences of loved one
suffering from cancer. We pray for those
• who are ill
• who are caring for a friend or family member who
has cancer
• who are working "relessly to find cures for the 100+
types of cancer which have an impact on the lives
of so many people.
Thank you to those who have been so generous in
dona"ng hard cash.
Some thoughts for Yr6 children on SATS!
The SATs don’t test whether you’re a crea"ve person, can
write code, whether you are good at teaching IT skills to
your granddad or have a rapport with animals. They don’t
test your speaking skills or wheth-
er you can mend anything put in
front of you. They don’t measure
whether you’re arty or sporty,
musical or love science.
Although subjects like Maths and
English are important, never forget you’ve been
given talents in plenty of other areas too.
Please try your best to think
of these tests as “something
I’ve got to do, but not the
most important thing in the
world.” The problem is that
some"mes we teachers can
make them seem really im-
portant, without no"cing what we’re doing. We have school targets we
hope to meet and our school has Government targets it hopes to meet. It’s
like one big chain and there’s only one person at the end of it… YOU!
