Dear Haun Families,

Thank you for sending your children to school every day with clean, properly fitting facemasks. Lately

we have been seeing more gaiters. While they may be more comfortable for some, the single layer

gaiters are not protective.

Due to the fact that it is difficult for us to assess the gaiters for 2 layers we discourage them at school.

Health Screening Reminder for Families

Now that students are back in buildings for face-to-face instruction, we need your assistance in keeping everyone healthy and safe. Parents are reminded to please take a moment each day to monitor your children’s health and do not send them to school if they are displaying any COVID-19 symptoms or have tested positive for COVID-19. No one should enter a Plano ISD school or facility if any of the following apply:

Sick with symptoms that could be COVID-19. Symptoms to watch for: fever (100°F or higher), cough, shortness of breath/difficulty breathing, chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, fatigue, congestion/running nose, nausea/diarrhea, new loss of taste or smell.

Has a confirmed case of COVID-19 or has been in close contact with a person with a confirmed case of COVID-19. These individuals must follow all isolation and quarantine guidelines from the local health authority or their physician.

Has a household member who is awaiting COVID-19 test results, or who is awaiting their own test results.

Has traveled internationally or on a cruise in the past 14 days.

If any of the above conditions apply, the COVID-19 Student Reporting Form should be completed. Students and staff who have tested positive for COVID-19 or are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 will be permitted to return to school when:

They are 24 hours fever-free without using fever-reducing medication; and

Symptoms improved (cough, difficulty breathing, etc.); and

10 days have passed since symptoms began

If a student wants to return to school prior to meeting the above criteria, they must obtain a medical professional’s note clearing them for return based on an alternative diagnosis or receive a negative PCR or antigen test.

Thank you for your assistance in doing your part to keep our students healthy and safe.

Hello Haun Huskies,

The Haun Elementary Science Fair will be held on April 22nd this year. Due to our current circumstances the science fair

will be held virtually. Each participant will complete a science project at home and enter data onto a Google slide show

template provided by the District. This form, a registration form, and the 2020-2021 Science Fair Student Handbook can

be found in the 2020-2021 Haun Science Fair Google Classroom. To access this classroom have your child go to the

Google Classroom page on his/her school computer, click on the plus sign to add a class, and type in the following class

code, nbmexeh. This will give your child access to the Google Classroom. Once your child has access, you or your child

needs to fill out the 2020-2021 Science Fair Student Information form.

Before April 22nd each entrant should complete a science or engineering experiment and enter the results on the PISD

Virtual Elementary Science Fair template. All virtual experiments must be turned in before April 22nd. Actual

experiments are to be left at home and will not be allowed into the school building. Thank you in advance for your

flexibility in the changes made to this year’s science fair.

Should you have concerns or questions, please, contact me directly at [email protected]

The science fair google classroom has been created for the singular purpose of moving documents electronically and will

not be monitored for questions.

Feel free to contact me if necessary.

School Hours

Grades K– 5 7:40 am - 2:45 pm Your child should be in his/her seat by 7:40 am ready for instruction. A good guideline is to arrive at school by 7:30 am to

allow your child enough time to get in the building, put his/her things away, and begin work by 7:40 am. Gym doors

open at 7:00 am. Students may enter the building at that time and will be supervised by staff.

ATTENDANCE & TARDINESS POLICY

School is an important job. Regular school attendance is important to your child’s educational growth. When

he/she misses school, comes to school late, or leaves early, he/she misses important classroom instruction.

Parents are responsible for sending a written note explaining the reason for their child’s absence on the day

he/she returns to school. Parents will be notified if tardies or absences become excessive.

Please call our CHILDSAFE phone line – 469-752-1600, press 3 – to report any student absences as soon as

possible. We account for every child – every day.

After 7:40 am your student is tardy. You must pull into the main driveway, park your car, and walk your child to the door and scan the QR code (blue sign) located on Door #2 (far left door), ring the doorbell, and the Office will let your child in; parent/guardian are not allowed in the building for now.

student success in learning.

your child’s personality, sports they do, etc. Please make sure that they are clear pictures and not too

far away.

2. Please include a few short sentences of what has been your child’s

favorite part about Haun or what they will remember most.

See FLYER for more details.
