WCHRI 2015 Summer Studentship Competition

• Undergraduate students (including MD students) registered in a recognized degree program from any university;
• Projects must be related to women and/or children's health research;
• Project must be supervised by a WCHRI member and carried out at the University of Alberta;
• Supervisors may submit only one application per year.
Eligibility
WCHRI Summer Studentship Competition 2015
• research question directly relevant to women and/or children’s health;
• research question specifically targets improving outcomes for women and/or children;
• animal models must be clearly justified and provide specific details that include rationale;
• Methodology must demonstrate benefit, impact, and/or potential for improved health outcomes.
Relevance
WCHRI Summer Studentship Competition 2015
• Minimum of 3 months of the 4-month summer period of May to August (applicants engaged in undergraduate medical education with 11 weeks available for research are welcome to apply).
Commitment
WCHRI Summer Studentship Competition 2015
• May be held for a period of up to 4 months; • A maximum of $1,300 per month;• Incentive funding if applicant is
successful in an external award.
The Award

application will be reviewed;• request transcripts and reference letters early;• discuss project with your supervisor;• plan timelines – leave at least a week to get
signatures;• re-read and proofread everything again.
Application Process – what to do first
WCHRI Summer Studentship Competition 2015
• one up-to-date copy of the candidate’s official UofA transcripts, received in a sealed envelope;
• one letter of reference, in a signed, sealed envelope from the referee;
• Supervisor's current Research Funding;• Supervisor’s publication listing for the last 3 years
only (with trainees underlined).
Deadline for submission: February 2, 2015

• original, signed application with all supporting documents submitted to WCHRI by due date;
• sent by WCHRI to 2 reviewers;• on-line review process;• successful applicants notified late March;• reviewer feedback to applicant is provided.
Review Process

• Summer Studentship Program Booklet;
• Summer Studentship Lunch and Shares;
• complete a final report;• present at WCHRI Research
Day in November.
