Choose To Look Forward

by Susan Poff

There is a quote I read the other day by a man named Satchel Paige. It resonated with me. It said “How old would you be, if you did not know how old you were?” I thought about that a lot.

We recently spent a couple of weeks at the Sa-lem International Rally with people of every age from young to old. On many days I felt like I was 100 years old after lots of walking, talking and breathing in the vast amounts of dust while help-ing at the Bull Pen with the Rally Arrival Team. Or helping answer questions at the Members Informa-tion Desk

I found myself doing some people watching. There were so many people of all ages from so many different places . They came from all over the US and Canada, even some from Europe. One thing they all had in common was that they had all traveled to Oregon to attend another International Rally. I found myself asking why some people who were obviously much older than I am, were able to be out there still experiencing new places and meeting new people. I think having something to look forward to, is a critical part of staying young. When we just sit all day in one place, it changes not only our bodies, but our outlook on life.

Traveling is giving us the opportunity to strengthen our minds and our bodies. We have en-ergy because we look forward to each new adven-ture. We choose to work toward staying young and active because of our wonderful involvement in the Airstream Club.

It comes down to the fact that we don’t talk about or think about how “ old” we are, we just live our lives looking forward to what is coming next and not backward at what has been. So if you have a day when work or life is making you feel tired, actively choose to join us in attending a rally when you can and look forward to a new adventure!

Ordering the Club Flag If you want to purchase a flag to fly at rallies, the club is making a list of those who want one. So far, we have 6 orders:

The Club, Foleys, Fried, Lanhams, Reynolds, and Sbars . Each flag will cost $80.00 plus shipping. If you want to add your name to the list, contact Betty by email: [email protected]

Deadline for ordering is September 9th.

Note from Janice Collier

Dear Special Friends,

My family and I want to thank you for your concern about Keith during his illness. The phone calls, the cards, your coming to the service - - I did not real-ize that so many from Texas Plains Airstream Club were present until I looked at the register book. Keith and I certainly felt all of your love over the past few months. Thank you for being there dur-ing this time and for lifting us up in prayer.

Our Love,

Janice
