Bona will be looking for its fourth-straight 20-win season while maintaining its perfect road record. SBU owns the nation’s best road mark at 8-0, one of only three unbeatens on the road in the country. ~ Bonaventure has won a program-best 10 consecutive regular- season A-10 games, which has shattered the previous record of four done on six previous occasions and four times under Crowley’s tenure. SBU won its final four conference games last season, and has started with six straight victories in the league this year. ~ Already with a program-record seven wins in the month of January, the Bonnies will be looking to complete their first perfect January in school history. Bona is 6-0 in games played on Saturdays this year – the most wins on any day of the week – and it is a perfect 16-0 when shooting at least 40 percent from the floor. Additionally, the Brown and White is leading the nation in fewest turnovers per game, giving the ball away just 12 times per outing. ~ With a win, head coach Jim Crowley will even his career record for the first time since a 92-78 loss at Kent State on Nov. 19, 2000 – just his second game as Bonaventure’s head coach. Crowley built a 39-37 record in three years as the head man of Keuka College, and following the defeat to Kent State had a 39-39 career mark. At one point during his Bonaventure tenure, Crowley had a 57-119 record (62 games below .500), but since then he has a mark of 116-57 (59 games over .500). ~ For the second time this year, senior leading scorers Jessica Jenkins and Megan Van Tatenhove enter the contest with the exact amount of career points (1,255). Heading into the Temple game, each had 1,185 career points. However, it its win over Saint Joseph’s on Wednesday, it was the sophomore duo of Doris Ortega and CeCe Dixon which helped SBU remain at the top of the league ledger. Ortega tallied a career-high 20 points (previous high was 14), while Dixon scored six straight late in the game to finish with 10 points – already her ninth double-digit scoring outing of the season after doing that just once during her freshman year. ~ St. Bona’s two largest margins of victory in series history have come in each of the last two years. Two seasons ago, SBU defeated La Salle by 19 points, 58-39, which was at that time the largest Bonaventure win in series history, until last season when it won by 20 points, 74-54. THree TimeS THe cHariTySt. Bonaventure boasts three of the best five free-throw shooters in A-10 history in terms of made free throws in a career. Hilary Waltman, who grad-uated in 1999, ranks second on the all-time conference list with 588, Sue Shay, ’92, ranks third with 524 and Dana Mitchell, ’10, ranks fifth with 474. By owning three of the top five free throw shooters in a respective conference, Bonaventure is the only school in Division I history which holds that honor.
3-pOinT uWith her six 3-pointers against Charlotte on Jan. 21, Jessica Jenkins not only took sole possession of the program record in that category, but also the A-10 record. Jenkins currently has 295 made 3’s in her career. The school – and conference – record was 291, held by Suzie Dailer. Dailer, who played at Bona’s from 1992-95, actually shared the all-time league mark with Cathy Jones of George Washington. Additionally, 2006 SBU grad Stefanie Collins currently ranks fourth on that list with 288 3’s. By becoming the leading 3-point shooter in A-10 history, St. Bonaventure is the only school in the na-tion with three of the top four 3-point shooters (in terms of made field goals) in any respective conference in women’s basketball Division I history.
amOng THe naTiOn’S eliTeSt. Bonaventure finished the 2011-12 campaign ranked among the nation’s best in several statistical categories. The Bonnies ranked in the top-10 in 3-point field-goal percentage (6th/38%) and turnovers per game (7th/13.8 per game). The Brown and White also ranked inside the top-50 in three other categories: scoring defense (23rd/55.2 per game); free-throw percentage (31st/74.4%); 3-point field goals per game (44th/6.8 per game).
a ‘BOna’ fiDe leagueThe A-10 finished the 2010-11 campaign ranked 7th among the 31 Division I conferences in the official NCAA RPI Report, ranking behind only the “Big 6” – Big 12, ACC, BIG EAST, SEC, Big Ten and Pac-10 (now Pac-12). However, no conference except the BIG EAST had MORE teams finish in the top 80 of the RPI than the A-10. The A-10 had eight schools in the top-80 – the same amount as the Big 12, Big Ten, ACC and SEC. St. Bonaventure finished 70th, and it was joined by Xavier (10), Temple (35), Charlotte (49), Dayton (50), Saint Joseph’s (68) and Richmond (77).
1,000-pOinT DuOSenior Jessica Jenkins became the 19th member of the 1,000 Point Club during a 23-point performance against West Virginia Nov. 18. Jenkins joined classmate Megan Van Tatenhove on the list as the Wisconsin native became the 18th member of the club last year in the opening round of the Atlantic 10 Championship.
DefenSive prOweSSFor the second consecutive year in 2010-11, St. Bonaventure led the A-10 in scoring defense. SBU held its opponents to an average of 55.2 points per game, one season after leading the A-10 at 54.1 points per outing. While five other schools in history have led the conference in scoring defense back-to-back years, no school has been as stringent as the Brown and White. The 54.6 combined scoring defense average the last two years by the Bonnies is THE BEST by any school in consecutive years in the history of the A-10.
BirTHDay girlSNot only are Jessica Jenkins and Megan Van Tatenhove St. Bonaventure’s two leading scorers, but they also share the same birthday: May 11, 1990.
3-pOinT efficiency aT iTS aBSOluTe BeSTFor the fourth consecutive season in 2010-11, St. Bonaventure led the Atlantic 10 in 3-point field goal percentage, connecting at a 38.2-percent clip (224-587). By leading the A-10 in 3-point shooting percentage four straight years, St. Bonaventure is the only school in the history of Division I women’s basketball to lead a conference in that category for four straight seasons. In 2009-10, the Bonnies shot 38.5 percent from 3-point range; in 2008-09 they shot 36.4 percent and in 2007-08 they also shot 36.4 per-cent. No other school in the A-10 has accomplished this feat more than two years in a row.

OrTega’S career nigHT carrieS BOnnieS paST SainT JOe’SST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – Sophomore Doris Ortega scored a career-high 20 points as St. Bonaventure (19-2, 6-0 Atlantic 10) erased an uncharacteristically slow first half to remain the only unbeaten in conference play with a 68-61 win over Saint Joseph’s (13-6, 3-2 A-10) Wednesday night at the Reilly Center.
Trailing 52-50 with under 10 minutes to play, the Bonnies reverted back to the form which paced them to their program-record start, led by their core of seniors and an influx of youthful exuberance.
Senior Megan Van Tatenhove started a 6-0 spurt with a jumper, followed by a pair of free throws from redshirt senior Armelia Horton and then a layup from sophomore CeCe Dixon. After a Saint Joe’s bucket, it was Dixon with four straight as she sliced her way through the Hawks’ defense on one trip and beat it down the court the next. That score gave SBU a 62-54 lead with under two minutes to play and it held on for its first home win over SJU since 2004.
Ortega stepped up huge for the Brown and White on a night when leading scorer Jessica Jenkins could only muster six points, including none in the final 32 minutes. The Harlem native broke her previous scoring high with more than 13 minutes to play and she finished a perfect 8-8 from the line – also a career best.
Three other Bonaventure players reached double-figure scoring as Horton tallied 11 and pulled down nine re-bounds, while Van Tatenhove and Dixon each contributed 10. Eight of Dixon’s points came in the second half, including six over a span of just three minutes late in the contest where the Bonnies took the game over to win their eighth consecutive contest – the second-longest streak in program history.
all-Time win leaDerSWith Bonaventure’s win over Saint Joseph’s on Jan. 25, the senior class of Jessica Jenkins, Me-gan Van Tatenhove, Armelia Horton and Jennie Ashton become the all-time winningest class in school history, earning their 86th career vic-tory. Additionally, with 104 wins, redshirt senior Horton is the winningest player – either men’s or women’s – in Bonaventure basketball histo-ry. The senior class surpassed the 2011 group as the winningest in program history as Cara Gustafson and Amanda Johnson graduated with 85 victories.
nOT QuiTe a ‘minuTe’ DeTailSenior Jessica Jenkins has been – by compari-son to her teammates – a workhorse for the Bonnies this year as she averages a team-high 31.1 minutes a game. Alaina Walker is the next closest, and she averages 27.6 minutes per game. In A-10 games the disparity is even more drastic as Jenkins plays 34.7 minutes a contest, while Walker is once again the next closest at 27.3 minutes.
a.w. iS a-OkJunior Alaina Walker – one of the team’s best defensive players – has recently put her offensive skills on display. Against Sacred Heart on Jan. 3 she tallied a career-high 18 points, and followed that up with an 11-point performance against Duquesne on Jan. 7. The back-to-back double-figure point games represent the first time Walker has done that this season and just the second time in her career. The other came last year on Jan. 29 against Massachusetts and Feb. 2 opposite Dayton when she netted 11 and 10, respectively.
1k pOinTS & 500 BOarDSWith her first rebound against Duquesne on Jan. 7, senior Megan Van Tatenhove became
just the ninth member of the program’s 1,000 Point & 500 Rebound Club. The rebound against the Dukes was part of her sixth career double-double as Van Tatenhove finished with 13 points and a season-high 11 rebounds. The Wisconsin native is the first Bona player to join the club since Dana Mitchell in 2010, and she currently has 1,255 points (T-10th all-time) and 537 rebounds (14th all-time).
pOSSeSSiOn iS nine-TenTHSThe Bonnies commit just 12 turnovers per game – best in the nation – but they are even more stingy with the ball when the game is on the line. Of their 253 giveaways, 144 have come in the first half (57 percent) while 109 have come in the final 20 minutes. Additionally, in the final five minutes the Bonnies have committed just 22 turnovers, and in their eight road contests in the final five minutes, they have given the ball away just two times.
cluTcH laTeMuch like the late-game possession, Bonaventure connects from the free-throw line in pressure moments. Currently 16th in the nation at 76.5 percent as a team from the line, the Bonnies are 87-116 (75 percent) in the final five minutes of games while their opponents are just 43-64 (67.2 percent). Even more impressive, the Bonnies are 37-49 (75.5 percent) from the stripe in the last five minutes of their road games, while those home teams are just 17-29 (58.6 percent).
ScOring marginThe Bonnies have a scoring margin of +10.7 on the year – one of only three A-10 teams with a positive double-figure scoring margin. SBU av-erages 64.2 points per game and allows just 53.5. Only three schools: LSU, South Carolina and Georgetown, have a greater scoring margin which average fewer points per game in the na-

DiverSifying Her gameSenior Jessica Jenkins – one of the best 3-point shooters in the nation – has gradually diversified her scoring game since stepping foot on campus. As a freshman, 77.4 percent of Jenkins’ 151 points came off 3-pointers. She lowered that percentage to 71.7 her sophomore year, decreased it even further to 69.2 her junior campaign and this season it’s at an all-time low of 67.2 percent. What’s more impressive is that Jenkins has increased her scoring average and 3-pointers made each season. She’s the current Atlantic 10 Conference 3-point record holder as she has hit 295 in her career.
Big 4 DOminanceSt. Bonaventure has won 15 straight games over Big 4 rivals. The 15 consecutive victories is the longest such streak in the history of Big 4 women’s basketball. The Bonnies have not lost to a Big 4 school since Nov. 19, 2006, when the University at Buffalo defeated them
at the St. Bonaventure Shootout, 67-59.
STarTing QuarTeT With a 79-55 win against Morgan State on Nov. 20, Bonaventure got off to a 4-0 start for the sixth time in school history. Five of those six occasions have come in the last seven years. The only other season a Bona team got off to a 4-0 start was the 1992-93 club.
DOuBle-DigiT TrenDWith its victory against Marist on Dec. 18, the Brown and White extended its streak to six straight years of double-digit regular-season non-conference wins. a numBer SayS a lOT49.7 percent of 12th-year head coach Jim Crow-ley’s wins at St. Bonaventure have come in the last 3+ years. Crowley, who took over prior to the 2000-01 season, has won 86 of his 173 games at Bonaventure since the start of the 2008-09 campaign. Furthermore, Crowley won his 200th career game Dec. 7 vs. Indiana.
DiD yOu knOw?St. Bonaventure is one of only three schools in A-10 history with two players who have scored 2,000 or more points. Hilary Waltman, 1996-99, checks in at No. 7 on the all-time list with 2,106 points, while Dana Mitchell, 2007-10, is No. 11 with 2,011 points. Xavier, which occupies the No. 4 and 5 slots, and Saint Joseph’s, which owns the No. 3 and 8 positions, are the only other A-10 schools with multiple 2,000-point scorers.
leaDer By a mileJessica Jenkins returns as the leading 3-point shooter in the A-10, and she’s the leading return-er by a long stretch. Jenkins hit a program-record 100 3’s last year to lead the conference. The next closest returning 3-point shooter in the league is Duquesne’s Alex Gensler who knocked down 67 3-pointers last season – 33 fewer than Jenkins.
lOve frOm eSpnIn the most recent ESPN.com Mid-Major Rankings on Jan. 25, Graham Hays ranks the Bonnies 3rd among the non-BCS conference teams. Here’s what Hays had to say: “The Bonnies didn’t take the easy route before conference play, winning big games on the road against the likes of St. John’s and West Virginia, and they aren’t taking the easy route to the top of the Atlantic 10. Charlotte, Duquesne, Richmond and Temple are a combined 0-4 against St. Bonaventure and (at the time were)
career afTernOOnSenior Jessica Jenkins established a career high in points when she netted 33 in the regular-season finale last year in a win against Charlotte. As part of those 33 points, the Marion, Ohio product set a program record by knocking down nine 3-pointers. Not only did that give her the school record, but it also tied her with three others for the A-10 record for made 3’s in a game.
leaDerS Once againFor the second straight year in 2010-11, St. Bonaventure led the A-10 in free-throw percent-age, connecting at a 74.4-percent clip. In 2009-10, the Bonnies shot 79.8 percent from the charity stripe, and that percentage ranks as the second highest in conference history behind only the 81.5 percent Saint Joseph’s shot in 2000-01. St. Bona is the first school to defend its free-throw percentage crown since Saint Joe’s in 2000-01 and 2001-02. Fur-thermore, last season was the eighth time in history that the Bonnies have led the A-10 in free-throw percentage, and that is the most of any school in the history of the conference.
BOmBS awayAs a team, St. Bonaventure made 16 3-pointers in its regular-season finale last year against Charlotte, paced by a program-record nine from Jessica Jenkins. That total ranks as the second highest in the history of the A-10 in a single game, bested only by the 17 Xavier knocked down against McNeese State in 2007. However, in conference games only, the 16 3’s by the Bonnies beat the previous record of 14 held by Richmond in a 2008 game against Massachusetts.
inSiDe-OuT reTurning cOmBOSenior forward Megan Van Tatenhove returns as the second-leading scorer in the A-10 after averaging 14.5 points per game last year, while senior guard Jessica Jenkins returns as the leading 3-point shooter in the conference after knocking down 100 3’s last campaign. How-
ever, in conference games only, Van Tatenhove averaged 16.2 points per game, tying her with Dayton’s Justine Raterman as the league’s highest-returning scorer in that category. Jenkins averaged 13.1 points per outing, making her and Van Tatenhove one of just two sets of returning teammates in the A-10 who averaged 13 or more points per game last year. The other is the senior duo of Shey Peddy (14.1) and Kristen McCarthy (13.2) from Temple.
nO freeBieS, nO prOBlemSt. Bonaventure was the only school in the A-10 last year to play a game and hold its opponent without a made free throw. Against UTSA on Dec. 21, the Roadrun-ners attempted just three free throws – also a season low for an opponent by an A-10 team – and made none of them. On the other side, the Bonnies made 14-of-20 en route to a 46-37 win – the fewest points the club held a team to all season.
DOwnTOwn clinicSt. Bonaventure set a program record by making 224 3-pointers last season, shat-tering the old mark of 192 set during the 2008-09 season. That total ranks sec-ond in the all-time A-10 record book, behind only the 256 made by Xavier dur-ing the 2000-01 season. Additionally, the club connected at a 38.2-percent clip (224-587), making it the second-highest 3-point field-goal percentage season in pro-gram history. The 2009-10 year with a 38.5-percent clip was the only higher season.
league leaDerSMegan Van Tatenhove scored a career-high 35 points against Dayton last year, a to-tal which ranked tied for the highest-scoring performance by an individual in the league last season. Additionally, Jessica Jenkins’s nine 3-pointers against Charlotte, and her eight 3-pointer performance against Duquesne, ranked as the top-two per-formances by anyone in the A-10 last year in terms of 3-pointers made in a game.

rOaD warriOrSWith its win at Charlotte on Jan. 21, St. Bonaventure extended its road record to 8-0 to start the 2011-12 season for the first time in program history. Bonaventure has had a winning road record in each of the last four seasons. The only other year beside the last four that happened was when the 1991-92 club went 7-6 away from the Reilly Center. Over the last four years, Bona is an impressive 42-25 on the road.
prOgram HiSTOryThe win over No. 25/rv St. John’s on Nov. 12 was the program’s first ever road victory against a nationally ranked team and just the third over a nationally ranked team in school history. Jim Crowley enters his 12th season as head coach and 16th overall year on the St. Bonaven-ture bench in the 2011-12 season.
Under Crowley’s guidance, the Bonnies have developed into a consistently competitive and hard-working unit on and off the court. His dedi-cation and commitment to the program has es-tablished a strong foundation of future success for the Brown and White. Crowley’s passion for the game has proved to be contagious as his en-ergy and desire to win is evident every time his team steps on the floor.
For the third straight year in 2010-11, Crowley guided his team to a 20-win season, finish-ing with a 21-12 record and trip to the Second Round of the Women’s National Invitation Tour-nament (WNIT). St. Bonaventure finished tied for 3rd in the always-competitive Atlantic 10 Confer-ence with a 9-5 record.
The season was the third-best in program his-tory, bested only by the 2009-10 and 2008-09 seasons in which the Brown and White tallied 23 wins in each. The Bonnies set a program single-season record for 3-pointers made in 2010-11 by knocking down 224 – 32 more than the sec-ond-best year in 2008-09.
In the 2009-10 campaign, the Bonnies tied a program record set the year before with 23 wins, including a program-record 21 regular-season
wins. They advanced to the WNIT for the second consecutive year, and in the process became just one of five A-10 schools to have four consecutive winning seasons.
The team opened the season with 11 consecu-tive wins – the longest winning streak in program history. It also finished in the top 10 in the nation in four different categories: free-throw percent-age (80.3/5th), 3-point percentage (38.5/7th), turnovers (13.6/7th) and scoring defense (52.7/9th).
Following a season in which the club tallied an all-time school record with 23 wins, Crowley and the Bonnies have launched themselves into a promising position for the future. For the 2008-09 season, Crowley was named Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year. He is the first coach in pro-gram history to win coach of the year. He also earned the New Balance - Basketball Coaches Association of New York (BCANY), Women’s Divi-sion I Coach of the Year.
Crowley has turned in his finest coaching per-formances on the sidelines in the last four sea-sons after directing the Bonnies to a combined 80 victories since the beginning of the 2006-07 campaign.
The 2008-09 season was one of the most suc-cessful campaigns in St. Bonaventure history, as the Bonnies broke the previous win record
by five. Crowley guided the Brown and White to their first postseason appearance and highlighted it with two wins against Big East foe West Virginia and Big Ten contender Wisconsin.
In 2008, the Bonnies beat No. 24/23 Michigan State for the third time in program history. After the victory, St. Bonaventure received a vote in the AP Top 25 poll for the first time in program history. The team’s 15-5 start was the best start after 20 games since the pro-gram’s inception.
The Bonnies won nine Atlantic 10 games in the 2008-09 season, including wins against Temple and Char-lotte, setting a program record for most conference wins in a single season. The 55-52 victory against Tem-ple was the first win against the Owls in seven years.
St. Bonaventure finished the season in a four-way tie for fourth place in the A-10 with its 9-5 conference record. Its seventh seed in the 2009 A-10 Champion-ships tied the 2007-08 club with the highest ranking in the tournament since 1996-97.
Following a record-setting season on the court, a pair of Bonnies received postseason recognition from the Atlantic 10. Dana Mitchell earned a spot on the All-Conference Second Team for the second year, while Katelyn Murray earned a spot on the Academic All-Con-ference squad for the second consecutive year.
Under the tutelage of Crowley, Mitchell developed into one of the premier players in the conference. Mitch-ell ranks 2nd on the all-time Bona scoring chart with 2,011 career points, and holds five program records, including being the only member of the 2,000-point and 700-rebound club.
The Brown and White jumped out of the 2007-08 open-ing tip to the tune of a then program-best 11-2 start before finishing non-conference play with a then all-time high of 12 victories heading into Atlantic 10 ac-tion. Crowley led the Bonnies to their highest league finish since 1996-97 as the team exceeded preseason expectations with a seventh-place finish. The club’s six league triumphs were the most since 2001-02.
Crowley and Bonnies achieved great success despite taking on a heavy road schedule, including a 10-game span away from the Reilly Center. The Brown and White notched the fifth most true road triumphs in the nation with 10, and matched the longest road winning streak in school history with six. The club’s 18-win season was highlighted by a 63-60 upset of No. 14/13 George Washington on Bob Lanier Court. The victory marked the program’s second ever win over a nationally ranked opponent in the 37-year history of women’s basketball at St. Bonaventure.
Following a record-setting season on the court, a pair of Bonnies earned postseason honors from the Atlantic 10. Mitchell followed up an All-Rookie campaign with a selection to the All-Conference Second Team, while Murray earned a spot on the Academic All-Conference squad. For her sophomore performance, Mitchell be-came the third Bonnie and fifth sophomore ever to lead the conference in scoring thanks to an 18.1 point per game average.

wilSOn family funD raiSeS nearly $20,000The St. Bonaventure Department of Athletics, in conjunction with University Ministries, has collected nearly $20,000 as part of the Wilson Family Assistance Program for freshman women’s basketball player Tatiana Wil-son.
University officials established the fund last month to help Wilson’s family, whose house in Far Rockaway, Queens, was destroyed by fire early in the morning Dec. 13.
University Ministries accepted almost $19,000 in cash and checks and nearly $1,000 in gift cards. Additionally, 15 large boxes containing clothes, toiletries and other supplies were donated to the family.
“I want to thank the St. Bonaventure University and Olean communities from the bottom of my heart for all their support and contributions to our family over the past month,” Temeka Wilson, Tatiana’s mother, said. “Our family is very blessed to be alive, and the generosity and kindness of those who helped outside of western New York is also very much appreciated. We are extremely grateful for all donations, phone calls and well-wishes that were made, and I just want to say ‘thank you’ one more time.”
Wilson’s mother and five younger siblings jumped from their second-story home into the arms of New York City Sanitation Department workers, who saw the flames from a distance and called 911. Temeka broke her back while trying to escape, sister Amari, 12, suffered a broken leg and sister Shaina, 17, suffered third-degree burns. The family lost everything in the fire.
For those who would still like to donate to the family, cash/checks may be mailed to the following address:
