The complexity of endodontic procedures may discourage many practitioners from performing this type of treatment. Single file technique with reciprocating motionReciprocating

The wave one motor works in reciprocating mode, which means that it continuously on changes its rotating direction during the shaping procedure. Using a large rotating angle in the cutting direction provides high efficiency and using a smaller angle in the reverse direc direction helps the wave one file to successively progress along the canal path, whilst respecting the root canal anatomy. The advantages of the reciprocating technique are numerous. First of all, it makes it possible to shape most root canals using only one single wave one Nickel-Titanium file. This means that no time is wasted changing NiTi instruments during the root canal shaping procedure. This brings optimal simplicity to the practitioner and decreases the global shaping time by up to 40% versus a traditional rotary technique in continuous motion.TM

Dentsply utilizes an innovative thermal treatment process to create the M-Wire NiTi material. Its resulting characteristics provide overall flexibility and greater resistance to cyclic fatigue, the leading cause of file separation. In fact, the tougher the instrumenting challenge, like shaping severely curved canals to the apex, the more apparent the M-Wire NiTis advantages become.

The primary wave one file is designed to fully shape the majority of all root canals. However, if a K-File 10 is very resistant to movement then the appropriate size is small. Better control of file breakageEndodontic files exhibit signs of wear during normal use. They are also subject to cyclic fatigue, the main cause of file breakage. This will gradually alter the physical properties of the file, which potentially can lead to file breakage during patient treatment. Single use therefore gives better control of file breakage and thus increased patient safety.
