Wave of Hope Charity Concert 音樂人文饗宴 匯聚愛心 共創未來 Oct. 27 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm Oct. 28 @ 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm Dear Generous Tzu Chi Benefactor: Thanks to your support, Tzu Chi has continuously brought hope to the suffering for forty-seven years. In the past year, US Tzu Chi volunteers extended their helping hands to offer material and spiritual support to the disaster survivors after tornadoes in the Midwest, wildfires in the West, and floods in the East. Internationally, US Tzu Chi volunteers and donors provided not only short term disaster relief, but also long term development to revi- talize the communities. Tzu Chi has built thirteen schools in Si-Chuan, China following the 2008 earthquake, one thousand homes in Taiwan following the 2009 Morakot Flood, three community centers in South Africa for AIDS orphans, and is currently building three schools in Haiti following the 2010 earthquake. In Northern California, the individual cases assisted by Tzu Chi’s charity program have doubled, while several thousand patients received free services through Tzu Chi’s medical and dental outreach programs. Tzu Chi’s Happy Campus Program has served seven underprivileged schools in the Bay Area, while the number of students awarded by Tzu Chi college scholarship more than doubled. With the country’s recent economic struggles, these services are needed more than ever. In order to meet the ever increasing social service needs, Tzu Chi launched a long-term plan to build a campus of six service centers in San Jose two years ago. They include a medical clinic, a senior service center, a youth education center, a community education center, an en- vironmental conservation center, and a disaster shelter. The first phase of the plan has been approved by the City and construction will start by the end of this year, with completion expected by the end of next year. On October 27 and 28, 2012 we will be holding a musical charity concert to continue raising funds for the service centers. We sincerely invite you to join. Together, we will make our community better.
