Our imported water comes from the State Water Project (SWP) in Northern California, where a three-year drought continues. SWP supplies have been further limited due to court orders. Reservoirs are approaching critically low levels. Many existing plumbing fixtures and irrigation systems are inefficient and wasting water. Try These Water Saving Tips: Saving 5,000-50,000 gallons annually Comply with These Requirements: Violations may result in fines of $250 Use your sprinklers before 10 a.m. or after 4 p.m. any day of the week; drip irrigation, hand- watering, & repairs are exempt. Don’t allow your irrigation water to overspray or runoff your property. Never use a hose to clean driveways, sidewalks, patios, walkways, streets, alleys. Use water efficiently and fix all leaks. Use a bucket of water to wash your car; no runoff allowed. Convert sprinklers to drip irrigation or install a rain barrel. Rebates and grants available! Replace old toilets and clothes washers with high-efficiency models. Wash full loads of clothes and dishes. Fix all leaking faucets, shower- heads, irrigation systems immediately. Santa Monica will continue to import 88% of its water until our groundwater treatment plant is completed in late 2010. Keep Saving, Santa Monica!

Try These Water Saving Tips:

• Santa Mónica continuará importando 88% de agua has-ta que esté lista la planta de tratamiento de agua sub-terránea a fines del año 2010. • Nuestra agua importada proviene del Proyecto de Agua Estatal (SWP, por sus siglas en inglés) en el Norte de Cali-fornia, donde continúa una sequía de tres años. • Órdenes judiciales han incrementado la limitación del abastecimiento del SWP. • Los reservorios están llegando a límites muy bajos.

• Muchos de los sistemas de plomería y irrigación exis-tentes son ineficientes y derrochan agua.

Llave ropa y vasejas con cargas llenas.
