Of this , 5% i.e 20 MGD is wasted every day at customer premises and leakages. It can suffice 6 lakh people’s water needs

Why – WaLC Alliance1. Hyderabad – Though a water self sufficient city -
witnesses huge wastage of water
2. Lack of citizen accountability and governance.
3. Women empowerment, education, child rights, etc. have witnessed success under innovative leadership - however not found in water.
4. People know the importance of water – But not much action in practice
5. Water conservation and reduction in wastage of water , usage of recycled water, economic use of water etc requires a dynamic leadership (WaLC).
WaLC Alliance - Vision and Goal:WaLC Alliance Vision:To make Hyderabad Water secure city bybuilding a people’s movement with an action onreduction of wastage of water, economisingwater use and ground water recharge toconserve it for future generations.
WaLC Alliance Goal:To save 20 million gallons of un accounted forwater by changing the behaviours of people onreduction of wastage of water with actions atindividual, family and community levels.
Objectives of WaLC
1. To nurture the responsible citizenry and voluntarypeople’s action to address water supply related issuesin the city of Hyderabad contributing to conservationof precious water.
2. WaLC Alliance will bring together people and theirpublic representatives to promote leadership on urbanwater issues and conservation.
3. To advocate for the recycle and recharge of water inthe city of Hyderabad.
4. To act as an interface, to integrate technical,economic and social dimensions of water.

How to Register as a Volunteer
Ø Download the WaLC App on the mobile and register as a Volunteer
Ø Indicate the number of hours , days of the week and area preferred to volunteer in the App
Ø Be in touch with the NGO/ Core team of the Zone for knowing on the update on the events after registration
Ø Mobilize more Volunteers in your areas
Ø Participate in Ward level wise trainings and awareness campaigns
Ø Support the ward level core team in organising the ward level events
Ø Identify the key stakeholders groups i.e Watchmen, maids, RWA leaders, children in the schools, etc) for delivering the key messages
Ø Where possible organize the focused group interactions with the key stakeholders and provide awareness on reduction of wastage of water , economizing usage, recharge of ground water.

Ø Observe your surroundings if there is wastage of water and create awareness on importance of water.
Ø Disseminating key messages on reduction of water wastage, economizing water use and ground water recharge in the neighborhoods.
Ø Promote water saving devises such as flow restricted taps, aerated taps etc to minimise the usage of water.
Ø Promote rain water harvesting to arrest the runoff.
Ø Promote fixation for water meters to measure the water usage.
Ø If any leakages or pollution of water due to leakages are observed inform the concerned officials immediately through 155313.
