Of the ~60 million people in UK, each is responsible for:+ 0.5 tonnes of household waste+ 1.5 tonnes of industrial and commercial wastes+ 2 tonnes of construction & demolition wastes+ 3 tonnes of agricultural and mining wastes

TOTAL = 430 million tonnes per year

Case Study - Seagate Distribution (UK) Ltd

•Returned cardboard to suppliers for reuse (5 tonnes per year)

•Recycling of office wastes (paper, plastic cups and toner cartridges)

•37% reduction in waste going to landfill

•Historically - Production line washwater collected in drums and accumulated prior to offsite treatment and incineration (20,000 litres/year cost £9,000)

•Now - washwater is collected separately for each product, stored temporarily and added to the next batch
