MISSION CRITICAL ELECTRONIC FILES MAINTAINED BY DEPARTMENT
Electronic documents/data in the Department that are Mission Critical:
1. All WSU-NWREC financial records2. All experimental research data3. All chemical inventories
Where are these records/forms backed-up and stored? How often do back-ups take place on critical records and forms?
Financial records are backed up on a daily basis and stored on flash drive.
Research data are stored on the personal computers of individual research program personnel and on the WSU-NWREC server and generally backed up on a weekly basis for storage in file cabinets.
Chemical inventories are stored on the WSU-NWREC server, which is backed up on a daily basis through WSU-CAHNRS
Summary of Department Recovery Plan for Mission Critical electronic data and anticipated recovery time:
Recovery time will be minimal since back up files exist.WSU-NWREC will be purchasing fire/waterproof box for storage of physical data storage files (CDs, zip disks, flash-drives, etc.)
For more information on identifying and securing mission critical files contact Procedures, Records and Forms-335-2005
MISSION CRITICAL NON-ELECTRONIC FILES MAINTAINED BY DEPARTMENTNon-Electronic documents/data in the Department that are Mission Critical:
1. Hard copies of financial and employee records2. Farm records pertaining to land use
Where are these records/forms stored? How often do updates take place on critical records and forms?
1. These records are stored in locked metal filing cabinets in the Administrative Manager’s office and main office.
2. These records are stored in the farm shop in 3-ring binders; in the future, we would intend to recreate these electronically.
Summary of Department Recovery Plan for Mission Critical Non-electronic data and anticipated recovery time:
1. Almost all originals are on file at the main campus (HRS, CAHNRS, Comptrollers Office)2. Records are duplicated, where necessary, and stored in individual program data bases.
