Why is Washington DC such an important place in the US?

Washington DC is important because… Washington DC is such an important place in the us for

many reasons first it’s our Capital. It shows all about our history and government. It displays monuments, memorials that honor important president and soldiers of past wars. In DC laws are made by Congress, judged by the Supreme Court and enforced by the President. Washington DC is home to important buildings like the Smithsonian museums, BUREAU OF ENGRAVING AND PRINTING $$$, and the National Archives. DC is home to many Government agencies like the Dept. of Defense , Dept. of Agriculture, and the FBI.

The main Memorials and Monuments are the Washington monument, Lincoln memorial, Jefferson memorial, Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, The Wall, JFK grave site, and Korean War Memorial.

Some of the other important places and buildings in Washington DC are the Capitol, Rotunda (in the capitol), Fords theater, Tidal basin, the Smithsonian, Pentagon, Supreme Court, BUREAU OF ENGRAVING AND PRINTING $$$, and the White House.

Who are some of the important people in US history associated with Washington DC?

This security guard protects the men and women that work at the capitol building. He doesn't have to do with history but he is an important person.

Washington DC are George Washington he was the 1st president, revolutionary war hero and Washington DC was named after him. James Madison 4th president of the US, he lived in the Octagon House, and his wife Dolly saved a portrait of George Washington. Charles L’ Enfant worked with George Washington DC as a designer to remodel Washington DC, hired and fired by George Washington, and he is buried at Arlington National cemetery. Benjamin Banneker he took over when Charles L’ Enfant was fired. He was black which was incredible at this time in history. Andrew Ellicott helped take over with Benjamin Banneker after L’ Enfant was fired. James Smithson funded $$$$$$ the Smithsonian Museums. He was from England!!!

Why are the Smithsonian Institution’s museums important? The Smithsonian Institutions is important because it is the world largest

group of museums and Art Galleries. It preserves the history of the U.S. and our variety of cultures.

All about the history of flight. The Wright brothers first air plane is there. It has a lot of info on astronauts and space. There are even space rocks. Amelia Earhart is a person that is in history for flight.

The Native American Museum is the newest museum. It displays native American artifacts and history.
