Accreditation

Ensured College of Music compliance for re-accreditation with the Southern

Association of Schools and Colleges, the university’s accrediting body (2016)

Primary leader for the successful NASM re-accreditation process (2011). This

was a multi-year process that culminated in a 260-page written document (plus a

portfolio of supporting documentation) and an Optional Response.

Curricula

Created a dual-credit program with Arlington ISD, located between Dallas and

Fort Worth, for students in the top 20% of their class to take music courses for

credit.

Developed an at-risk program for the College of Music. This program identifies

students early in their program who show potential risk of academic decline or

dropout. It has been highly successful and has resulted into Freshmen-

Sophomore retention rates between 88-92%.

Supported new course development at UNT’s satellite campus in Frisco, TX

and the College of Music to allow a Doctor of Osteopath to provide free medical

treatments for students suffering from performance injuries

these large-enrolled classes (150-200 students) has increased significantly as a

result of these changes.

between the College of Music and the College of Visual Arts. Each year, five

graduate students in music and five graduate students in visual arts were accepted

meetings that led to the $2.2M gift from the Robert and Ruby Priddy Charitable

Trust. I was a member of the Priddy steering committee that developed this

program, which led to a Certificate in Arts Leadership.

graduate students in Performance and Composition. The 9-credit or 12-credit

course was conceived and created by me, and it has resulted in ten study abroad trips that have included

approximately 125 music education students.

Spring Semesters:

I rotate graduate courses every spring semester. The courses include:

College Music Teaching, designed for doctoral graduate students from any music

discipline who are seeking positions in higher education. Average enrollment is 22

students. Feedback on the course has been outstanding.

related to leadership and the arts. Average enrollment is 22 students. Feedback on the

course has been outstanding.
