Examples of MoulageLaceration:• Build up schkin and

Stomach Impalement:• Build up schkin and

bruise with chalk and “road rash.”

• Place impalement.• Put coagulated blood

around impalement, and medium blood all over injury.

Ruptured bowel:• Use the directions

for an impalement on the stomach.

• Fill a condom with prepared oatmeal.

• Press condom over impalement and squeeze.

Road Rash

Pond filter/sponge dipped in red lipstick. In most home improvement stores.

Schkin Smoothing

Petroleum jelly on fingertips allows ease in smoothing.

The goal is to make the edges of the schkin blend with the skin.

Coagulated “blood” applied with a craft stick.

Medium and thin “blood” would be applied at the exercise site.

We just gently insert the impalement into the schkin.

We apply a band aid over the eye area, then schkin.

We only do this simulated injury on people we know and trust.

This flimsy plastic tool is great!

And smooth out the edges. The white tool is actually an icing spreaderand available at most craft stores.

We gently create the orbital.

We would apply the medium and light “bloods” once the victim is placed for the exercise.

This is one of our most dramatic examples of moulage!

Examples of Moulage

Burn/Blisters:

• Mix fiber therapy with warm water to consistency of applesauce.

• Place mixture. • Apply “road rash” around

injury.• Fill syringe with petroleum

jelly, squirt “blisters” into base.

• “Bruise” with powder and add a little blood.

• Dust with fireplace ash.

Pour on quickly! It is like applesauce and then sets up!

Smooth Out

Using water, we smooth to about 1/8” thickness.

Let It Dry

When none stays on the fingertips (test), it is ready for the next step.

We place the tip of a syringe filled with petroleum jelly under the fiber therapy and push…

Creative Injuries

We use coffee stirrers and rubber bands to simulate veins and tendons.

A pencil eraser works well with petroleum jelly. Then just fray the exit part of the injury.

Simulation-Conclusion

We conclude our training by assigning an incident to each team. An Evaluator (usually an Instructor) monitors the teams as they create simulations.

Teams create scenarios based on their incident and role play.

This is their “final” and it is usually a blast!
