As Term 3 comes to an end, we can take a moment to reflect and appreciate the success of our students and congratulate their achievements. Every day, students work tirelessly in class, set and achieve personal goals and demonstrate the YCDI keys to success. At a glance, here are many of the extra activities where our students have showcased their skills, talents and interest over the past 10 weeks. Academics: Public Speaking Competition, Premier ’s Spelling Bee, 100 nights of Reading Awards, Merit Awards, Premier’s Reading Challenge, REACH assessments and NAPLAN results, GATs Camp and many excursions Cultural: Cultural Groups and Aboriginal Children’s Day Arts: WPS Showcase, Dance and Choir performances and Book Week Parade Environmental: National Tree Day, Environmental Group, Sports: Athletics Carnival, sporting teams and individual achievements. Thank you to all the parent volunteers who support school initiatives and organise community events such as Father’s Day stall and breakfast. Both staff and students are grateful for your constant support and commitment to our whole school community. Zone Carnival Congratulations to the 40 students who attended the Wallarah Zone Carnival this week, with warmer weather being on your side. Mrs Wilkins and Ms Harris were impressed by every student ’s effort and sportsmanship. Three cheers for Sienna, Jayla, Kooper and Khyanu who placed 1 st or 2 nd in their event and are heading to the Sydney North Carnival next term. Environmental Group Recognition We take great pride in our school grounds and have dedicated staff and students who work tirelessly as a committed Environmental Group. Last week, Mrs Niemkiewicz and 4 excited students attended the 46 th Wyong Shire Garden Competition. To their delight, WPS was awarded 1 st place in the School and College category and Culinary category. Many thanks to all of the students who participate in the Environmental Group daily. These awards are for all of you! Kindergarten Transition Please read the date section carefully on the following page to be up to date with upcoming events. We hit the ground running with welcoming our 2020 Kindergartens for their transition sessions, Thursdays 9:15-11am, Weeks 1-4 Oct 17, Oct 24, Oct 31 and Nov 7. Such an exciting chapter begins again. If you have a child starting school in 2020, please ensure you have collected an enrolment form from the front office to commence the enrolment process. Enrolment Policy As previously addressed, the Department of Education has updated its Enrolment Policy which comes into effect at the commencement of Term 4. WPS has exceeded our enrolment cap and are unable to accept non-local enrolments including siblings of students who may already be attending Warnervale.
