Warm Up! (answers)1) Renewable- Plants, Trees, Animals, Water.As long as they are not over used or made unusable to
humans.Nonrenewable- Oil, Coal, Gold, Natural Gas.Perpetual- water, wind, sunlight2) Traditional- Burns fossil fuels & produces air pollution. Alternative- Uses natural resources and does not produce
air pollution (minimal at most)3) Coal-trees & plants buried in swampsNatural gas & Oil-animals in ocean died & buried4) Mining- reclamation: putting the land back together

What is Mining? the extraction of valuable minerals or
other geological materials from the earth.Impacts: Habitat destruction, air & water
What is OverfishingTo deplete (use up) the supply of usable fish in a
certain area of water*Impacts: extinction of marine fish species, loss
of biodiversity, decline in fisheries*Potential Solution: Aquaculture (fish
farming!!): raises fish in ponds or fenced areas of water; however, it requires wild fish for feeding, fish crowding occurs, may invade native habitats

• You are also responsible for watching the youtube clip at each station. You may use your phone/electronic device or my computer!

• In groups, you will research a topic about a human impact on Earth’s surface.
• Using the information from your reading and Text Book, your group will create a 2 minute News Story Poster to present to the class

solutions/alternatives can your team propose?
