    WARKWORTH A & P L IFESTYLE SHOWCELEBRATING 148 YEARS

    24TH

    AND 25th

    JANUARY 2015

The Warkworth Agricultural & Pastoral Society has a long history being one of the five oldest societiesin NZ. The show was established in 1867 and has been held annually except for one year duringWorld War 2. The Central Government of the day granted the Show Society its present site complete

with the Title and it was gazetted to us officially in 1884.

The Show Society is run under the umbrella of national Royal Agricultural Society of NZ and worksunder all its Rules and Regulations as do all A & P Shows within NZ. Show Societies have tried toretain their rural concept but have also had to widen their displays to include modern technology andits methods, this is most obvious in the current Trade Displays. With the large number of small-holdings particularly within our boundaries we have also moved to include more of the new interestlivestock such as goats, alpacas and various new breeds of cattle& sheep.

The Equestrian scene is a much bigger and more defined area with many more people being involvedin the wider area of showing, from miniature horses to mounted games and classes for all ages bothin Ridden and In-Hand sections. This will be on both Saturday and Sunday

In the Rodeo Arena the Warkworth Ranch Horse Club will be running competitions anddemonstrations of trail, reining and cattle events.

The large marquee will hold the Indoor Section of Produce, Flowers, Art and Crafts, Preserves Bakingand Floral Artthese will be judged as usual on the Friday..Live entertainment in this area will be supplied by the Country Bluegrass Band known as OtherwiseFine, Warkworth/Wellsford Pipes & Drums, The Grand Duo plus buskers and acrobats entertainingaround the grounds. Show Day would not be complete without the Puhoi Axemen Club who againhave a crowd pulling entertainment programme, Dog Trials, Shearing and the usual sideshows andentertainment.

The Village Market which was new last year and a great success, will be selling a variety of homemade items plus stalls with arts and crafts.

There will also be the Show QueenPrincessFairy and Pirate competitions which will be judgedduring the lunchtime.

Trade Displays are, again, looking good with a number of new exhibitors joining the ranks andeverything from cars to collectables will be on sale and display.

The BAYLEYS GUIDE DOG AUCTION will be held at 2.00pm during the afternoon and you can visittheir tent during the day and place your price on the large number of donated goods supplied by localbusinesses to support this wonderful cause.

Our own local Greg and Mandy will again be entertaining the public with EWE RACING and SheepShearing Displays (and you can have a go).

The hospitality marquee will be run by the Matakana Pub and will be serving tastings of local winesand beers along with food.
