There are many exciting events we are looking forward to, including swimming lessons, Stage 3 Camp, beach classroom, Digital Media Festival, and Children’s University graduation. The excitement continues towards the end of the term with our end of year ceremonies and events. We are having a focus on Kindness this term, and it has been heart-warming to see students showing kindness to each other, to teachers, staff and visitors, to their families and to their environment. Keep up the fabulous work! Special mention must go to the students of Purple class, who have been demonstrating outstanding leadership in this area. All students have been especially kind and welcoming to our preschool students each Wednesday morning. Transition to school activities will continue each Wednesday morning throughout Term 4, in preparation for beginning Kinder in 2018. During our holiday break, Mr Anschau has been busily making a start to improving our outdoor area. Pavers will be laid on the area adjacent to the bird aviary to make a relaxation space for students to enjoy quietly interacting with each other and our birds. Many thanks to Mr Anschau for his hard work. Best of luck to Kingsley, who will compete in the State Athletics Carnival (long jump, under 11’s) at Homebush next week. We are very proud of his significant achievement in gaining selection at this elite level. Leonora Parade School Crossing Move We are negotiating with Newcastle Council and RMS to have the school crossing moved to a safer location away from the school and residential driveways, as well as relocating the 40 Zone lights to a more visible place. This will improve access for families using the ‘Kiss and Drop” zone, and provide a safer route for students and families to cross Leonora Parade. Feedback from the community is encouraged- please contact the school and we will notify the relevant authorities. Nicola Moroney, Principal SWIM SCHOOL STARTS NEXT TUESDAY! You need to bring a towel, plastic bag for wet swimmers, goggles (optional), apply sunscreen and wear a hat. The school will provide all students with a swimming cap.
