A MESSAGE FROM YOUR PRESIDENT

Liebe Mitglieder - Dear Members,

At the December General Membership Meeting there will be the election for the offices of President, Recording Secretary and Second Vice President. The health of the club depends on having very capable people running for office, and also a good turnout of the membership on election night to vote for the best person for each office. At the time of writing the candidates are Don Sturmfels for President, Rod Meehan and Teresa Vikari for Recording Secretary and Norma Grieb for Second Vice President. The Election Committee would like to have all offices contested. We should all be grateful to all the candidates, winning or losing, as they have shown a substantial interest in the club.

The current members of the Advisory Committee are Simon Schock, Alfred Escheu, Brian Schulz, Hilde Cox, Rod Meehan, Norma Grieb, Trudy Gilgenast and Rick Miller. During my term of office I have depended on their advice on club issues on an individual basis. The first meeting of the committee as a whole was in November. The committee resolved to meet on a regular basis to discuss the club’s strategic issues.

Many thanks are due to the many who contributed to the success of the recently held Christmas Festival.

NEW FIRE PIT Thanks to Boy Scout Troop #29 If you take a walk in our newly acquired property you might walk past a beautiful firepit and benches in the middle of the woods. This project was designed and built for the DSB by Joe Mauk’s son Tommy as an Eagle Scout project. Tommy and his fellow Scouts researched, designed, built and installed this project for our enjoyment. Eagle Scout is the highest achievement or rank attainable in the Boy Scouting program of the Boy Scouts of America. Only four percent of Boy Scouts are granted this rank after a lengthy review process and the requirements necessary to achieve this rank take years to fulfill. We thank Tommy and Boy Scout Troup #29 (Red Clay Creek Presbyterian Church) for volunteering to enhance our property. ****************************************************************************************************
