Voyeurism in ‘Blurred Lines’

Throughout the music video, there are many close ups, on the women wearing a bright red lipstick. This together with their facial expressions including pouting, and licking their teeth, are seen as provocative.

In terms of costume, the women are either naked or in white outfits which could be seen to connote purity. It should also be noted that in a couple of shots, one of the women are seen holding a baby lamb, followed with the lyrics “you’re a good girl” and therefore suggesting that they are childlike and naïve.

Not only is the costume very tight fitting and revealing but her body posture can be seen to be very sexual and therefore voyeuristic
