Budget Stewardship:

EFCL’s Per Capita Cost Among Lowest of

Libraries from Comparable Communities

We will continue to be

good stewards, BUT cuts

in state aid and other

cost shifts require us to

request a higher than

usual increase

those the library is chartered to serve, and may not match town

or city populations. EF number adjusted to reflect mortgage

payout.

Why the Increase?

Cost shifts and cuts in state aid

– $15,000 impact in 2010 and planned for 2011

Library’s reserve fund has been depleted

– Quicker drop in library’s reserve fund due to

unexpected costs shifts in 2010

– Boiler replacement in late 2009 was paid with

our reserves

– Reduction in interest income
